Here's my original thread...
https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...&threadid=99295

In the past 3 or 4 weeks I test driven 4 miatas and
3 crx's. I love them both!! I just can't decide which to get.
The 93 miata I drove today had 95,xxx miles but had a faint tapping noise like maybe the lifters, and just regular oil changes, she said she hadn't had the belts changed either. She asked $5k, I said i'd get a machanic to look at it decide from there.
The crx today had 118,000 sounded good but maaco paint job.
and was $1995 definatily and b16a.
let me know what you guys think if you want

All Miata's of that vintage have some lifter noise. It usually
goes away after a minute or so after starting.

Regarding the belts; it generally runs around $400 but you
should change the water pump while your at it. The Miata
has a non interference engine, so a broken time belt will only
mean a call to AAA, not a new engine.
