Default any "fun" tow vehicles?

I need to tow my S2000 on either an open trailer (probably smartest idea)...combined weight roughly 3400lbs.....or in an enclosed trailer (more luxury, but more cost and harder to tow)......which would weigh roughly 6000lbs......

Is there anything that can tow those amounts that is actually fun to drive??? I don't want a big freaking F250.....

I was originally thinking just an older Durango as a extra car....but then maybe I could sell something and drive my "tow vehicle" if it is something cool enough.?

The mustang has the torque, but apparently is not made for towing.

If you stick to the open trailer, you could get a Ford Lightning. It'll tow 5000 lbs and is plenty fun to drive in a straight line.

I have a friend who tows an RX7 on an open trailer with a Durango. It works really well for that and his Durango has a decent 0-60 (I'm thinking 7.8 seconds without trailer?).

Here's a vote for the Tundra. I love mine, and use it to regularly tow our travel trailer which weighs in full load at 5XXX lbs. While the torque band and 4 speed transmission isn't as precise as my neighbours F350 diesel dualie, the gas motor makes it one of the quicker 1/2 ton trucks on the market. Combine that with an enthusiastic owner base, great aftermarket, excellent off-road attributes and Toyota build quality, and you have one of the most fun tow vehicles on the market.

Scot, I don't like the Durango for one reason. They drink gas and lots of it. Otherwise it's a great choice. I'll go with what UL said, for a fun truck the Lightning can't be beat. As hard as it is even for me to believe I love my Chevy truck with Quadrasteer. Around town I get 17 to 18 mpg and can carry 5 people in comfort. On the highway at 85mph with my enclosed and loaded racecar trailer hooked on I get 10 mpg. It's also really cool to have a turning radius like a Civic in a big assed truck. How about the
2004 Touareg?

What about an MDX, or a Murano, or are you looking for something a little cheaper?

i wouldn't tow with a cayenne or any other carlike SUV. when i was into offroad vehicles i towed about 7000lbs every weekend. I had an F250 PSDiesel crew cab short bed as my daily driver/tow vehicle. With a chip and an exhaust you can get ungodly amounts of torque and hp out of these diesel engines. It was very fun to drive, although a pain in the ass to park and drive in crowded areas.

I LOVE the new Lightning concept car. also the Dodge Ram SRT-10 looks awesome too. Either would be a kickass vehicle for your needs, although sort of expensive.

overall i would definitely say go with an american truck. americans can't make a car but they sure can make a tow rig. also the financing deals are impossible to beat. I had my F250 Lariat at 0%. I miss her nothin like 800ft-lbs of torque at 2000rpm.
