Default any tests on SRT8 JEEP?

Anyone see the magazine ads for the SRT8 Jeep? 0-60 in under 5 seconds.... that is moving! anyone see a test in any magazine yet?

I would like to see the Qtr mile times. I would imagine it will be under 13.5 with the awd launch.

I know...it is a dumb idea to have 420hp in a suv, but... it probably gets the same shitty gas mileage that a normal suv does....

Yep, it's a quick SUV, but I haven't read any articles on one yet.

I got to drive one a couple months ago. It's not really my style, but I must admit, that 420hp V8 has some serious grunt. I believe the 0-60 times we measured were under 5 seconds. Also, from a styling standpoint, it's quite nice. I love the centered exhaust.

I'm not much of an SUV fan, especially when the SUV in question has little off-road ability. In that case you can usually find a wagon that has just as much (or more) utility, lower weight, better handling, and lower fuel consumption. However, the Jeep SRT-8 is so wrong...that it's right. As much as I don't want to like it...I love it???

Here is a review I checked out a couple weeks back on edmunds.com:

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drive...rticleId=108449

6.1-liter Hemi
420 hp and 420 lb-ft
0-60 in 5.2 seconds
60-0 in 120 feet
Quarter-mile in 13.49 seconds

I like it.

But even if I had that kind of money, I wouldn't. That kind of cash has better investment possibilites.

thanks for the link. I didn't know edumunds had tested one. if they got 13.49 in the Qtr then most normal folks should be in the 12's.

edumunds most likely just rolled out on acceleration vs powerbraking. sounds like this jeep can kick a Porsche Cayanne turbo's ass!

You're welcome.

No kidding re: what other testers should be able to get if edmunds got 5.2/13.49
It seems those guys at edmunds treat their acceleration tests much like a leisurely Sunday drive, with grandma, the wife and the kids all along for the ride...

Yeah, a lot of our editors were saying that they would actually rather have this SRT8 over a cayenne - that's a pretty big compliment!

Scot, I think we got a 1/4 mile time closer to 13 flat...but don't hold me to that
