Anybody else think this is pretty sad. Took notice of this the other day at work. An iconic symbol of an American car company not even made in America.......

Well if it was made here you would be complaining about how much it cost. We have successfully priced ourselves out of the manufacturing process.

There's also a wonderful principle called specialization.

GM Korea is a massive operation. GM's Korean unit builds something like 2 million vehicles a year and exports cars and car parts from Korea to over 100 different countries.

One day you will wake up and the U.S. dollar will not be the worlds reserve currency. Inflation will hit 15% for a few years, after a while our labor costs (as well as our standard of living) will drop to the same level as Korea and China. At that time we will begin to learn to manufacture again. Until then, people like us that buy Japanese and German cars will only make things worse by adding to the trade deficit.

I think it's hilarious.

I know quite a few people who scream bloody murder about someone who has an American flag on an imported car.

Which is rather hilarious, because so many U.S. built cars have parts sourced from other countries, because they are cheaper. Irony, much?
