Default anyone have a smallblock in their S2000 yet?

The car has been out for almost 6 years.... someone out there has to have dropped a smallblock v8 into one by now.???

Just wanted to see if anyone has and maybe some pics and stats.

I would think a chevy 350 w/ 350hp and tons of torque would be great.... not sure what tranny it would hook up to and what rear diff (maybe one of those nissan rear diffs like that guy posted on Honda-tech?).

I know Alex claimed to have an LS1 in his (if he even owns an S2000)

no one has.

alexf20C said he did a LS6 a while back but refused to offer pictures. people that know him have said he makes many outrageous claims that cannot be proven true.

I am NOT saying he's a liar, but a simple pic is woth a thousand words.

personally, i think the engine bay is way to narrow. Yes, I realize the small-block is small and all, but there has to be SOME clearance between the exhaust manifold and frame. The rear-end won't take the torque, either.

I am not aware of any S2000 with anything but a F20C or F22C in it.

The s2000 has a pretty amazing i-4 already. I know that Spoon can tune a 2.0 liter S2000 engine to about 270-300 hp alone, and if you want to supercharge it, you can get more torque out of that. If you add a V8 into it, you'd gain a lot of weight, lose some of the weight distribution, etc.

It would fit with a little massage in my opinion, why you would do it is because you can make 600hp on pump gas with off the shelf components for less cost then some spoon motor with all the carbon stuff.

Personally with enough aluminium I think the weight would not be such a big issue, it would be the rearend, I had to use a 14 bolt 9.5 inch monster to keep my car on the road with ~600hp and a lot less weight then your standard S2000, so you would have to get creative with the transmission and the rear end more so then just getting the motor to fit.

somehow they get 302's into miata's.... surely someone can stuff a v8 into an S2000.

I had a 914 with a chevy small block (cam gear whine..yummmy) but it only had the stock transaxle so I sold it before I destroyed it. from a roll, It was a good bit faster than my cobra mustang that ran a 12.4 in the qtr.

an S2000 with 400hp/400lb ft torque would rock!

I know of one that is being done now and it will be a custom car from top to bottom. I have seen pictures of it but I can't supply them. The owner doesn't want it shown until he's finished with it.

now that is what I am talking about!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought the guy who bought Wesmasters chassis was going to do something like that, but I could be wrong.

no other engine makes sense unless.... turbo has lag, so does superchargers... .need some low end grunt....liquify that diff.

There's a shop near San Diego that will drop an LS1 into a Miata if you've got the $$$$$.

I have no doubt the S2000 engine bay has the space for a 350. Whether or not all the parts will line up and fit nice and neat is the real question.

Does anyone know the weight of the S2000 and Corvette motors?

With stock flywheel the LS2 is about 485-495lb the auto version with flex plate is something like 40lbs lighter.
I think that makes it a good 120lb heavier than the Honda.

Notes: LS2 motor was supposed to be about 10lb lighter than LS1 (500lb dressed with flywheel IIRC). I don't remember the Honda's weight but I think it was around 350lb.

Alex was already proven a faker, he posted a vid clip of pacman's ITB s2k with a LS6 exhaust note sound clip and posted it on SRT4.net or whatever. He claimed it was his s2k with the motor in it and he was busted by the members there.
