My wife had an 04 Cooper S and sold it last year to buy an 08 Clubman S. Obviously she / we like them since we're on our second. If you have any specific questions let me know.

I visited my parents for 3 days and drove their 08 Cooper S. I had the damn car the whole weekend. I LOVE driving that thing. I was shocked at how quick it was and how planted it felt. The torque steer could be avoided once you get the hang of it.

German design, assembled by the Brits with a french/german engine is more accurate.

if you get one get a new one
with a warranty

picked up an 03 MCS 4 months ago

Problems:
Brake booster went
Wheel speed sensor went
Clutch/Flywheel went (1700 bucks YAY)
Driver door lock went
Cold start/stall issue

fun car nonetheless

i'm actually trying to find a 96-00 EK9 or 89-92 240SX beater to keep the miles off the Mini lol

my friend said the mini cooper is the only car that has been banned at PCA events down here- (because the first thing that happened when one went head of heels, was the doors popped open or something, I duno)

aside from that, good choice I think, the one I've driven were like go karts.

I've seen pics of that Mini on the wrecker @ TWS. It rolled (not sure which way), and both side doors can unlocked and peeled back against the fenders. I forget whether or not they fell off completely.

Anyway, Minis are banned from PCA events @ TWS based on that incident. (I suppose it's only @ TWS because of the higher speeds and greater opportunity to hit walls and other fixed objects)
