Default audi s4

i know this is due to a remodel in 2017, the a4 already is. Anyone have any experience or opinion on the current 2016 Audi S4 manual? i know it is essentially the same car for several years now and performance is in between the 335i and the m3, so is the cost to buy.

I am searching for luxury car for over six months now. Narrowed down b/t ISF, S4, RS4, and M3. leaning toward ISF. There seems to be a problem with Audis regarding carbon build up. Costs $1000/year to treat. Not sure if this is a problem with '16.
good luck.

I had a '12 S4 with the Stasis stage 2 package, I didn't have an issue with carbon on mine.

I know on the V8s and V10s the timing chains are on the firewall side of the engine, if the current engine has the same design I would not own one outside a lease. Sure it's a timing chain, but the tensioners and pulley are made of plastic which are known to fail <100k miles, replacing them well... the timing chain is on the firewall side of the engine, I think you know where that's going. Good time to replace your clutch though if you needed to, lol.

$1000/year is crazy. More like $1000/3 years or never. The S4 isn't as bad as the s5's carbon buildup issue

in 2010 they went back to v6 but I share your concern for the v8 although I haven't herd of any common issues.
the v10 s6 is a Lamborghini engine so I can only imagine what that must coast to fix

The V6 3.0TFSI in the Audi S4 B8 does not seem to have the carbon build up problem as the earlier FSI V8 engines. A great engine by the way, I have mine tuned to about 400hp and it runs great!

If you sell it or trade it in before the warranty expires; who cares about carbon?

The carbon build up issues are really not so big a problem as they are made to be. The 'EGR' on these cars is done via tune and not hard wired in like it is on most cars, if the PCV system is functioning properly the build up should be minimal, if someone was really concerned maybe get an oil catch can.
