i owned a TT225 fast when you chip it...faster than the S2000 for sure.
handling: sucks, even if you have a Quattro it's essentially a front-wheel drive car until it detects slip.
reliability: i didn't have horrible trouble with it but, many people have had problems with the TT, it's definately not a Honda.
I traded mine in for an S2000 and I never ever will regret it.

PM Nole 99 in the Florida forums. He is my brother (Scott)and his wife has the new 250 hp 3.2 TT DSG with the paddle shifters and twin wet clutch. He autocrosses it and even races it at Sebring and it does awesome. It has been trouble free even when abused a little.

It is AWD all the time as long as you get the quattro version.
I have a close friend who bought a TT roadster 225hp this past march and he hasnt had any problems with it whatsoever. It has about 50k on it now. But i too have heard of people complaining about reliability issues. Are you looking to buy a used or new TT ? I drove my friends TT and i was impressed, matter of fact, its tempting for me and ive also looked into buying one. My reason is, cuz im kinda sick of having to have 3 cars (i live in NE where we have bad winters with lots of snow sometimes) and it would be nice to have a car that you could drive all year round if you had to, plus be able to put the topdwon in the warmer months. Yes it does not handle or perform as good as anyting else in its class, however, it is a comfortable convertible that you could drive all year round.

I could always go to the Audi site and find out certain facts, but I'm looking for 1st-hand opinions, not wild and made up opinions. Thank you! I will PM some of those owners.
I owned a TT 225Q coupe for about 1.5 yrs. I really dug the styling of the car, but that was about it. The reliablity was marginal (left me stranded once, had alot of rattles, electrical issues). The handling was my biggest gripe with the car. It was very nose heavy, and understeered like crazy. The steering feel was decent, but the car was very disconnected and not very responsive (like most Audis). The interior was beautiful and it was a great car to cruise in. Its really not a sports car though. Audiworld did a good comparison of the TT and the S2000 here: S2000 vs TT
Your best bet would be to go out and drive one and see what you think. My preference is obviously towards the sportier S2K, but the TT is a good value for a sporty convertible, especially used, since they don't have great resale values.

it's nowhere near as sporty as the s2000. it's a much more luxurious car. the rear seats are useless unless your passengers don't have legs and necks so short that their heads won't hit the rear window. oh wait, you are asking about the convertible. i don't have first hand experience with that, but i imagine the head room would be even less.
as far as the performance is concerned, i am familiar with the 180hp one. while it's not fast by any means, the awd and short 1st gear will get you out in front of anything not equipped with awd. if you are planning on modding the car, the 1.8t will probably have more potential. if you plan on keeping it stock, i'd go with the V6. plus the DSG sounds really cool.
