Default Awesome devotion

My dad just sent me this email.. Thought it was awesome to have such devotion to a vehicle.

One for the Books !
Man Owned & Drove Same Car for 82 YEARS

Can you imagine having the same car for 82 years!
I guess it was no longer under warranty.

"How Long Have You Owned a Car?"

Mr. Allen Swift ( Springfield , MA.) received this 1928 Rolls-Royce Picadilly P1 Roadster

from his father, brand new - as a graduation gift in 1928.
He drove it up until his death last year.....at the age of 102 !!!
He was the oldest living owner of a car from new. Just thought you'd like to see it.
He donated it to a Springfield museum after his death.

It has 1,070,000 miles on it, still runs like a Swiss watch, dead silent at any speed and is
in perfect cosmetic condition. (82 years)
That's approximately 13,048 miles per year (1087 per month)...

All I can think is: "Is this the real 'Mr. Burns'"?

Wow.

Wonder how much he spent maintaining and keeping a 80 year old Rolls in running condition.

Sounds like the cost was never an issue. Back in the day that was a $10000 car and to recieve it as a grad gift means they have more than enough money.

Still pretty amazing story and I like that it went to a museum instead of getting tucked away in a private collection.

Wow! That's amazing. It really shows how much he must have initially appreciated the gift and the love for it that developed. Sometimes, I feel like that with my S (at this point, it was a gift), but the amount of dedication this guy had for his car is crazy. I'd love to hear it run!
