Has anyone here ever raced an SRT-4??? The things may be a close relative to the Neon but they have an incredable engine!!! This years models has a LSD and supposedly gets to 60 in 5.3 sec. about what the S2K does. Has anyone raced one of these? I would hate to get beat by one!!!

 

 

I'm not sure why you'd be upset being beaten by a SRT4. It is what it is: a very fast, very inexpensive car.

 

The only thing Dodge has that's faster is the Viper. For the money it's got one hell of a lot of performance. The best way not to get out run by one is to make one your daily driver. While I do respect the SRT4 I would rather drive the S2K and get beat.

 

The only problems with it are that it is a Dodge and it is a Neon.

 

Don't forget the Dodge SRT-10 Ram with the viper V10 in it.

 

yeah you can make a pinto a 10 second car, but at the end, its still a pinto. a good car has to be well-rounded. slapping a turbo on a low-compression engine is nothing special at all, no engineering, no thought.

 

That's one of the more assinine things I've ever heard. A good car doesn't have to be well rounded... that's your opinion. After all, "well-rounded" is very subjective... the S2K certainly isn't well-rounded if you want a convertible sports car, but you need 4 seats and a decent amount of trunk space.

For one thing, the engine is low compression on purpose... otherwise you wouldn't be able to run all that boost through it without it blowing up.

I'm not a huge SRT4 fan... it just doesn't appeal to me in the least. But saying it required "no thought" and isn't "well-rounded" just seems like a cop-out: an easy way to dismiss a car you feel is genetically inferior, but would probably smoke you on the street.

 

I got a ride in an SRT4 the other day.... I wasnt impressed at all. interior felt cheap, and wayy too big.

Gimme the S2000 anyday. Going Fast in a straight line isnt appealing to me.

Fun factor - S2000 > SRT4

If you enjoy driving fast in a straight line, then I guess the SRT4 isnt a bad choice.

 

There are lots of cars that can be made to be faster than ours in a straight line. As my father taught me MANY years ago, you don't have to like them, just respect them. Different strokes you know!

(don't you think that "regular" boxter owners and many other high-end marks scoff at the fact that some "stupid honda" could blow thier doors off?!)
