I like the MDX, I could only justify a Wrangler since buying the S2K.

More cash would equal an Acura for me

Highlander is great (V-6). Best (except for gas mileage) is late model (private sale based on wholesale prices) used LX-470 Lexus or virtually the same, the Toyota Landcruiser (each must be 1998 and up to get V-8). Gas mileage fails your test (13-16) but otherwise they are absolutely great (bells and whistles galore) - and I might add, sonically the exact opposite of an S (like being in a leather chair in a quiet library vs. our 9000 rpm scream). Check out the reviews on Edumunds or using Google. Good luck.

I agree its a POS, but with the new v-8, and Jeep's offroad capabilities, it is by far the best hard core(off road) SUV.

oops, i meant the V-6. The new 3.7L v-6 is based on the 4.7L v-8. it is supposed to be a GRAND step forward in terms of refinement(that probably means that it is almost as good as the 2.7L v-6 in the original legend).

don't get me wrong. I would never buy a MB/Chysler, but they sure can handle the off road stuff.
