BMW M3
My lease on my S2k expires soon and I'm looking to replace the car. I love the S2k but it drives terribly in the snow, and I use it as my daily driver. I am considering the 2003 + M3, can anyone comment on how this car drives in the snow?
Thanks,
Thanks,
RWD... keep that in mind
it should still do ok though.... M3s are "f" ing sweet but I'm not sure you would want one as an everyday driver... but then again your coming from a Stook so you should be fine with it

My buddy has a 2002 M3 fully loaded. He worships the car. He has told me though the car sucks in winter weather. In fact his car once got stuck with only an inch of snow on the street. The wheels just kept spinning. I would suggest if your looking for a car all year round you might want to check out BMW's all wheel drive models. Good luck.
it's not the car, it's the tires. most if not all cars on summer performance tires will suck in the snow, especially a RWD car. the rubber compound used in summer tires harden in cold temps and until they heat up, you will have very little traction, even if it's dry out. the S can be driven year round (as some of our Canadian neighbors will attest to) as long as you get decent winter tires.

the m3 is a pig. it's much heavier than the S, so it will be harder to control in the snow.
I nominate this thread for dumbest thread of the year. The concept that someone would come to a Honda board to ask how a BMW handles in the snow with the insinuation that it will be in some way different than their existing rear wheel drive sports car with summer tires is incredible.

i always wondered why people put heavy objects in their trunks during winter...now i know....it's b/c they hated getting better gas mileage.
idiots.
