Default BMW STEP Training Program

Has anyone here taken or know someone that has taken this BMW STEP Technician Training Program?

Also, anyone have any first hand experience with the UTI Programs?

I am trying to get more information about these, and most of what I can find is on there own respective websites. And I would like to find some first hand knowledge from someone that has taken them.

Just some general information, pros and cons, etc... My understanding of the BMMW STEP program is they only accept graduates from schools like UTI general automotive program that have a graduating GPA of 3.5 or higher. I was wondering how difficult it would be to get a 3.5 GPA in the regular UTI school.

Well my friend says that the school is very strict. If you are late one minute they count it as 15 min. After a certain number of lates you get kicked out of the school. The classes are fast paced and difficult. He also wants to attend the BMW program and they are very tight standards as to who they accept. Overall he says the school is great. If you do all your work and study hard you will pass, its not rocket science.

Went to UTI, graduated with a 4.0 and a bunch of top class honors and can say its a complete waste of time. Many students that go on to the manufacturer programs (any of them) have said that once they graduated from the program the manufacturers have said there are no jobs local to them....but if you want to work at a dealer in Alaska they will pay you $10/hr. The whole thing is a big sales pitch, ask for references and they will set you up with the select few students that have succeeded. I was accepted in the the PTAP (porsche) program and decided against going as i didnt want to be locked into one of their 2 year contracts at a measily $15/hr with no guaranteed pay increase. I got all of my ASE certifications and am Master certified as well as a certified service advisor. Getting a couple years of experience as an apprentice and getting your ASE's are far more valuable than the UTI certificate.

i just made the transfer from UCLA to UTI....but now i'm reading all this crap i'm gonna back out. i thought about this change for a long time, and now that i've done it i'm regretting it already

don't forget it's freaking $27,000 for 51 weeks.

i'm sure it's a good school, but EVERYBODY i've talked to said it's a waste of time and money. there are other ways that are less expensive that can take you to the same place......
