^ Is it smaller than the FX, though? I know they ride on the same wheelbase (112", I think), but I haven't seen any other dimensions or the vehicle in person. The interior looks great in the photos I've seen.

Perhaps the X3 is going up in size. The X3 prototypes will be easily identified by it's shortened glasshouse and dynamically sloping roof. They will hit the road early next year.
So what do you know about the new X3? When will it be released? Will it have the bi-turbo motor? I am very curious, as we will likely be in the market for an X3, FX/EX, ML, or something next year.

To be honest I dont much right now about the new X3. I do know that it will be built in the U.S. so EuroDelivery is out of the question. It will be more of a utility vehicle than the X1. I have heard from many BMW mechanics that the current one is one of the most reliable cars they have out there. There hoping that the new version sticks with some of the plumbing.

That EX35 seems to be a VERY nice car and its got the HP to boot. I would bet money that the new X3 will have the biturbo motor. Hell I'm hoping this X1 will have it.

But trust me when i say it. The car featured above is NOT an X3.

^ I believe you. In profile, that car above looks teeny, and the driver looks like a giant. I'm hoping the X3 has increased cargo room. The EX may be too small for us, and, honestly, we may be looking for a change, even though we love the FXs. Though, the new FX could change our minds. Maybe 2 new next-gen. X3s or FXs?

Smaller isn't necessarily "down market".

I applaud this direction and I think it's going to work for them. People are buying small cars, so they make some high quality small cars. Good for them.

Especially with spiking gas prices.

Yes, as I mentioned it is a good deal smaller. I can't say by how much, but I'd say it's like a 7 or 8/10ths FX. It's more coupe-ish, with a more pronounced rear slope. And where the FX has a pretty upright, manly interior with flat, boxy shapes, I think you'll be seeing a lot of women in EX35s. If you look at the EX's interior, it's much more plush, and seems to have an air of femininity in its contours.

Of course, the one I saw on the road was driven by a 55+ man, but it was a manufacturer test vehicle, and that was a couple months ago.

Holy crap that thing is ugly, I mean.. wow, I'm actually impressed with how ugly it is. It's like Bangle beat Rosie O'Donnell with an ugly stick.

Doesn't seem much differnet than an upside down 1 series.
