Default Boxster Spyder

i am in the process of upgrading the wheel setup. i need a new set of tires; so, decided to get new rims as well. i am planning on getting HRE 560R. it's the only wheel i liked (or the HRE C70). it's gonna cost me over 4k. i could either spend the money on wheels; or, start saving for ..... Boxster Spyder!

i love the S2K. but, the upcoming Boxster Spyder keeps haunting me! i simply love the aspects of the Spyder. i can live with the quirky two-piece top setup. actually, it makes the car unique in this age of everything-automatic. i used to have a Boxster S; i sorely miss it!

it would be my only car. i live in minnesota; so, i am hoping that the two-piece top can be weather-tight. would get some cheap rims for snow tires.

i would either keep the S2000 for ever; or, make just one final push and get the Spyder. because, either the S or the Spyder would be my last car until i can change my financial status so that i can afford ANY exotic i want! so, i want to stay with a car that i can stay in love for, potentially, a long time. (i am working my ass off, so that i wouldn't have to wait long for the 'nirvana'!)

Any thoughts?

thanks.

henry.

Honestly, why not get another Boxster with HT?

The Spyder top seems like a real pita to me and offers nothing but looks and less refinement for all that extra money and 200 less pounds.

Drive a regular 2009 Boxster S.

What year was your previous Boxster?

There is a big difference between 986 and 987 cars.

Yeah, I love the Spyder, one of my favorite cars right now. But like stated above, you'd be better with the Boxster S for your only car. The things to love about the Spyder (minimalist: no radio or a/c; lighter, more rough; the oddball top; the fact that it's gonna be very limited; etc.) aren't really things you want in an -only- car.

You're going to want A/C to help the defrost if it's your only car in Minnesota.

You can get A/C, stereo w/ CD changer, Nav, etc. w/ the Spyder - they're just extra cost options.

I love the Spyder, aside from the top - kind of funny that in Porsche's online Spyder gallery there's a pic of a Spyder parked under a bridge while it's raining hard.

Minnesota is not the place for owning a Boxster Spyder. It makes zero sense as an only car. Get a normal Boxster or Cayman as they will be much more weatherproof.
