Default C&D RS4 first drive

I don't know how acurate they are, but here goes.

Est. :
price = $80K
curb weight 3700 lbs
1/4 mile 13.3sec@105mph

To go with the estimates here are a few real numbers to chew on:

E46 M3 $49K 1/4 13.6sec@105mph
C55 AMG $56K 1/4 13.3sec@108mph
S4 $48K 13.7sec@102 mph

I'm not too sure about any of these estimates, the price at $80K is $30k north of the S4 and the times seem slow for the power-to-weight, If the RS4 is not faster than the C55 AMG something is wrong with it IMO.

I don't see how the price can be $80K in the US when the M5 seems to be headed for ~$90K and the E55 is ~$90K

$80K for 13.7. Now the NSX is not the slowest $80K car anymore

At that price it will be a bust except for hardcore Audi fanbois. Who in their right mind wouldn't be looking at E55, M5, etc at that price range? I was loving this car at $50-$55k. I did notice, I think they didn't test the car because it a preproduction, so I think the 13.3 is a estimate.

yes it's an estimate. Also the price is an estimate they said in Europe it worked out to $85K when converted from euros, but C&D figured in the US it'd be ~$80K. However this could have been fully loaded so maybe base price can be in the low 70s.

I'd be all over one for ~$60k but if it's anywhere near $80K that's too much for me. I intend for my car to be a simi-winter beater and don't dig on that kind of coin for driving thru ice and snow, heck for that kind of money I can get an 911 C4

....wow.

I love the S4, but Audi performance cars are always overpriced, even compared to their German rivals. This just takes it to a new level.

Geek.

Use emacs instead.

On topic:

It does seem like a lot of cash for comparatively little car, but I'd wait until a finalized price comes out before speculating too much. If it is ~80k for a loaded RS4, then there is no way the car will go over well. It doesn't have any real perks over the competitve cars to justify it's price.

Could be a typo or maybe it's just a bad guess, I think C&D was the one that said the C6 Z06 may be ~$85K.

Also it may make some sense for audi to let on that it's higher priced and if it comes out less people may think it's a better deal.

70,000 Euros = $84,857.

Unless it comes in at about $60,000 they won't sell many of these cars. That would still be about a $15,000 premiun over the S4. At $80,000 that is eyewatering. Lately the Audi pricing on their RS models is just plain illogical. The RS6 at $85,000 (when the E55 & M5 were at $80,000). If you look at their traditional lineup it is usually a few thousand $ below the MBZ/BMW similar line car. They should follow that form of pricing across the board. At some of the prices they are charging it is laughable.
