Default Can the mileage me rolled back on an s2000?

I'm in the process of buying a used s2000, but I don't really trust ppl out there, so I wanna know if this can be done. I see a lot of used s2000s with really low mileage and I just dont see how its possible. A 2001 with only 15k miles

I just need some tips on things I should be aware of when purchasing this particular vehicle.

thanks

it is possible, I have a MY00 with 16K miles and I've had it 4 years.

I'm the second owner, first owner hardly drove it, I work too much to drive it often plus travel, i only put 500 miles on it last year

I was shocked! i'm going to start driving more often and whenever I can, I just don't like driving it in a 50 mile commute in bumper to bumper traffic, i have a mazda6 for that.

sometimes it's too hot to drive it, sometimes too cold to drive it and majority of the time no time to drive it.

Its very possible to drive the S2000 less than 4K miles per year. My car is a semi-DD and I'm putting 6K miles per year.

My friend bought a Solstice GXP 6 months ago and has about 500 miles on it.

I'd say there is a fair chance that a 2-seat convert can be a toy for some people.

It's possible to turn the miles back on any car. It's illegal but its part of the risk/reward of buying a used car.

I wonser if someone can go in to whichever one of the computers that controls mileage and change it, say through a program on a laptop.

I cant help but wonder if posts like this really mean to ask how do you roll back the mileage on an S2k. Not saying that is what the OP is saying but that is the first thing that comes to mind.

The only typical way to "roll back" the mileage on a digital ODO is typically to replace the entire circuit board that it is attached to (i.e. the entire gauge cluster).

You can swap out the ODOs, but many many people own S2000s as second or fun cars, so they rarely drive them. I know people who only drive them when its sunny and warm, or only on the weekends. If it was a Civic with low miles, I'd be wary, but an S2000 with low miles is nothing to really worry about imo.

do a search for my posts and you'll find out that I am in fact looking to buy an s2000, not trying to find out how to break the law .

Thanks for the replies guys. So i guess these are the type of cars that ppl garage pretty often.

The best way to protect against this is to check the Carfax maintenance history right?

I bought my S2000 a little over a year ago. Year 2000, 7995 miles. Running like a champ ever since. Its an enthusiasts sports car. It typically doesn't get used to drive to work or the grocery store. Would you question a Ferrari with super low miles? I don't think so. Same idea here, except we're all poor.
