Cannonball
i did a 2200 mile trip in 27 hours so I understand what it would take to add 600 miles in the same time. They were fast and tight. In my experience fuel tank range was the biggest impact on my timing and could have saved an hour of easy if I had twice the tank.
im sure there will be a bunch of the squares on this forum jump in with how reckless and dangerous this was.... 3...2...1...
Cool? Yep.
Idiotic? Absolutely.
That said, one good thing about these attempts is that they plan them to occur when traffic is minimal (starting late at night, going through the open, less-trafficked areas during the day so that speeding is relatively safe, etc) so the general public safety issues are definitely minimized. While there is always potential for an accident at those kinds of speeds, the truth is that they're probably more at risk of hitting wildlife than other cars. Doesn't make it right but, by nature of the record they're attempting, it's being done in a way that is least harmful to the public.

That is awesome!!!! I love this shit...... damn fast and no one got hurt.... good for these guys... i'm jealous too.....
The 2013 guys had used lots of technology but damn... these guys weren't ****ing around.... hard to imagine getting the entire way across the country at those speeds and not getting pulled over even once.... especially with cell phones, etc....
I think the official race always started in the middle of the night to avoid traffic.... back in like 1980 or so my dad and I got passed by a few cars that were FLYING in the summer out west on I70 or I80.... we always assumed it was the actual race...
