Default Car advise thread

Hey everyone. I'm quite on the fence about a major purchase. Financial situations have resulted in my longtime girlfriend and I having more disposable income (the best kind) We have an S2000 & a SVT Focus for daily driving, but I'm feeling the need for speed... and boost... and AWD. We came across a good deal on a used 03' Evo VIII. We've figured that we could afford to pay for all three cars and have enough left over for living expenses, insurance, beer, etc. On the positive side, it is an awesome car. The test drive was amazing. I've never been pushed back into my seat like that. Such great recaro seats too. I'm getting into HPDE's. Nowhere near experienced or competitive enough to actually race yet though. Lots of fun to go out and drive my ass off.

Positives:
Awesome car overall... speaks for itself
Having a third car
ummmm.. it's a good car.
Easy to drive fast, i.e. opposite of S2000 (bites you in the ass)
Responds well to modifications (if I can afford them)

Negatives:
Attraching attention from cops/civic racing crews
Extra insurance (though we've figured it into the costs)
Another car bill
Less money to modify Focus and S2000.
Exploding clutches
Parent company not doing so hot.

So, do I buy it and enjoy boost and leave all the cars relatively stock or do I save up and enjoy the great cars that are in our driveway now and modify them to enjoy them even more?

2 relatively modified cars or 3 relatively stock cars? I know most of you will say "It's your money, do what you want". Just trying to get some opinions. Thanks in advance.

What about keeping one stock (daily driver) and modify the other car? Preferably a turbocharged one. Insurance should be cheaper on the EVO (vs the S) and at BPU you can hold off a SCS2000.

how reliability of the evo? I've read some horror stories on evolutionm.net on reliability.

im also thinking of getting a used evo and modding it to the 350wrhp level.

Insurance costs for us is about the same as the S2000. $100 extra a month (for the evo) with a big ol multi-car discount w/ 21st century. That's less of a concern in the broader picture for us fortunately.

100 extra a month is a significant increase

I've always liked the Subaru better since its more livable in daily driving, and has a better rep for reliability. I also prefer keeping cars closer to stock - less chance of things going wrong, and less of a loss if something happens to the car.

Have you thought about selling the SVT and then modding the Mistu/Subie instead of just having 3 cars? That would be my choice.

If you like the way the EVO looks, then go ahead, but I just hate the exterior and would never consider it.
