It'll take another 2.5 years for them to engineer and place the on-board fire extinguisher. j/k
I want the NSX or a Zora to be a success, but I'd rather buy a used 360 spyder. To those with cash in huge piles, please carry on because I love these cars...

They have been talking about it since 2007, back then it was going to have a V10 and be in production by 2010. The point is, there has been a rumored new NSX for 7 freaking years.

The Superbowl commercial was 2.5 years ago. Honda definitely jumped the gun, it should have been in a Superbowl commercial next year...

As pointed out in previous threads, they had working near-production prototypes for the V10 NSX (it was ready to go - they just couldn't get it approved). Then they changed the complete philosophy of the car and went all-out for a sports car rather than a sports GT once the GFC passed.

How many other manufacturers have had full-blown prototypes, then cancelled them? Most never get off the show floor (no engine), much less drive around the 'Ring at 10/10ths...

But the point still stands, they have been promising it for 7 years now. It's honestly lost it's magic and been passed up by everything else before its been released.

You'll have to forgive them for letting the GFC interrupt their plans for a high-priced GT.

Honda was not promising it for seven years. They were merely working on it. They weren't constantly showing it and giving updates like they have for NSX 2.0. They showed a single concept and then walked away, not promoting it any further but rather doing the development work in the background. They were VERY tight-lipped about it. The hype was all enthusiast-driven, not Honda-driven.

The new NSX 2.0 has been heavily touted, promised, promoted, etc, by Honda directly with lots of details and special events to promote it. It's been a completely different message compared to the V10 GT car. Why? Honda committed to this car up front, publicly, because they know they're going to build it.

Sorry, it is still a misstep to buy Superbowl time for a car that is more than 3 years out.

I will believe the car is coming when I actually see it on the street. I will give Chrysler this.. They show a concept car, people like/hate it, they sometimes approve it for production and actually produce it! (I make no claims to how good the product is)

Did you have something to back that up or is it merely your opinion?

They've kept up since that announcement, taking it to races, car events, racetracks, etc, etc - it's not like they've just shut down since then. They've shown updated concepts with new details on bodywork and shape. That Superbowl ad was all about saying "We're back and you're going to be amazed by our halo car!" If you've kept up with the car, you'll know the powertrain details, purported very light weight, incredible speed on the 'Ring and other details that should have you saying, "I'm glad they announced it! I'm excited!"

If anything, I'm glad they did it because they can't back away from something so public. It was also a clear signal to people that have lost hope about Honda, that Honda can and still will make amazing sports cars.
