Default Car and Driver Ford Focus RS Instrumented Test

http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...rs-test-review

Specs look pretty good. 3459lb is porky but expected. Golf R 6MT is 3329 for reference, STI is 3402, EVO FE is 3517 (really???)

The RS is going to be a performer, no doubt, now it's just a question of will it hold up to the abuse.

Dang that's fat. I thought the trap speed would be higher, 105 is about the same as the STI and it has 45 more hp.

I'd take that over the competition an day of the week. That car is great! What a package. Ford is doing good things.

Car and driver is never known for getting the best drag strip numbers.

Yeah, it does seem a little weak given the specs. Could it be a gearing issue? I will be interested to see some real world wheel horsepower figures.

Car and Driver Reported Figures (60, 1/4):

2016 Golf R 6MT: 5.2, 13.7@103
2015 Golf R DCT: 4.5, 13.2@106
2015 WRX STI 6MT: 4.8, 13.3@105
2015 Evo FE 5MT: 4.4, 13.3@104
2015 WRX 6MT: 4.8, 13.6@102

I know, different days, conditions, and all that. But considering the RS is supposed to have at least 45hp over all of those, and similar weight, 13.4@105 is certainly not indicative of that. It's in now way slow, but it seems like as far as acceleration it might only be on par with the others.

Who do you think builds the most reliable product out of the group or would stand behind their product the most?

all of them suck IMO. I'd go with whoever has the most friendly dealer near you. The ford dealers near me are pricks to deal, service centers suck, and are anal about mods. VW & Subaru are much easier to deal with around here. But both SOA and AOA are horrible too, but the dealers can usually help with that.

STI ran 13.3 @ 105 for C&D. With 350 hp and tq it should run 12.9 @ 108+
