You regularly drive your S without shoes?
When you write a review on here they seem to be better received if you write somewhat decently so people don't say "poor punctuation, credibility invalid"

and yes I drive my S barefoot or at most, w/ socks. I drive every "sport" vehicle like that. Just feels comfy to me.

CAPITALIZATION IS ALWAYS CRITICAL IN HOW WE VIEW THINGS. SUCH AS POSTS.
Ineed. I might also add: Capitalization is the difference between I helped my uncle Jack off a horse and I helped my uncle jack off a horse.

What was the asking price on the Cayman?

I'm wondering if your expectations were perhaps built up a little more based on a linear "dollar per fun" measure? (i.e., twice the cost should be twice the fun).

Thanks for the solid, objective review.
Honestly I cannot recall the price. I wanna say 59,999 lol.

Some people view the S2000's rawness as exciting and sporty. I got tired of it, moved to an M3 and missed the go kart like handling of the S2000. The Cayman S was the best of both worlds. It had better handling than the S2000 with a little more refinement but was still more "raw" than the M3.

I drove a '10 PDK CS and then an 08 CPO 6-speed CS back to back about 18 months ago. I remember it better than I remember my wedding.

I was a little underwhelmed with the 08 manual because the '10 had more power and about every available option (it was like $71 or $72k).

HOWEVER, I have to say I disagree with you on the clutch. I literally drove like 5 cars that day and every single one of the trannies seemed like a total POS coming from my s2k, except the CS. As I was driving, the sales guy asked me how I felt about having a manual vs. the pdk; I don't remember what I said but he responded "well, you certainly don't seem to be having any trouble w/ the stick" (I was banging off shifts as fast as I could and I didn't miss a beat; pretty impressive after battling the 370Z's garbage-truck tranny for 30 minutes). I felt right at home in that thing.
Perhaps your car had some unusual wear or some unidentified issue? Or perhaps you were wearing crocs?

I have to say I don't get your issue w/ the dead pedal...a dead pedal doesn't make a car great or not; if it doesn't fit your body, then maybe it is you and not the car? My head sticks out the top of a miata, and I don't accuse the miata of being disappointing because of it.

On the interior...I think it depends on what you personally value...if you're talking weighting of and tactile feedback of buttons, thickness of and amount of top quality leather, hand stitching, etc then the CS isn't comparable to the vette. If all you're talking about is appearance, then I guess it is a matter of taste. Personally I thought the '10 CS interior was on a completely different planet than the vette (having sat in them within 60 minutes of each other). Then again, the CS did have extended leather, nav, and a whole bunch of other options. It was also in a tan leather vs. the vette's black, which changes the looks too...

Sorry man I just disagree with your assessment.

no prob. I respect that. It could just be me but I doubt I have 305 treadwith shoes on my feet. It was the first time in any manual car that it had happened before. It was... odd.

I can say that it was VASTLY superior to the 370z nismo I drove. Head and shoulders above. Those are comparable on numbers only. For me, everything subjective went to the porsche.

The closest comparison I can make to the cayman subjectively was the nsx I drove. Very very similar cars although I am partial to the nsx's exterior aesthetics.

Cars are always 90% a matter of personal taste, and when you get to this level of car, even more so. I can understand where you're coming from, but I (obviously) came away with a pretty different opinion of the CS. I love the clutch and shifter, feel the combination of torque and progressive power is just right, find the engine sound beautiful, and think the interior is well-designed and thoughtful in just the way the vette's isn't. The S2000 was fantastic, but I find the CS a few steps up in just about every way.

But all of that stuff has a lot to do with my personal tastes, not absolutes, and also how much things are worth to you. I also thought the 370Z was embarrassingly bad (in the ways I care about), and found that the things the Cayman does better (handling being one of the big ones) were worth the big price tag. I totally understand if that's not the case for somebody else.

I don't get the dead pedal thing though, I've never had that problem at all, you must be some kind of freak
