$18,000 is indeed a lot of money. The car does seem to be well taken cared of though.

Why would they make an NSX with an automatic......that just doesn't make sense...

Automatic NSX decrease their value by a huge %.

Although you could do a tranny swap, but still.

I had an automaic NSX about a year ago (it was from my dealer inventory, not my personal car). There was more demand for it being automatic and all than you would think. And it sold for a good amount of money. Not much less (if anything) than a stick NSX.

I looked into doing the manual swap for the hell of it. In a nutshell: IT'S NOT WORTH THE HASSLE AND EXPENSE! Another bummer to consider is that you'll be stuck with a 250 hp engine (the engine is detuned to be easier on the auto tranny).

Same reason Chevy dumps slushboxes into Vettes: mass appeal to increase sales/profit. The U.S. is a country dominated by automatics.

I will agree that a lazy man's gearbox in a performance car is like a fine steak covered in ketchup--ruined.

"Unmatched performance and breakthrough engineering."

I have to buy it just for this statement alone!
