Default civic queation

a little off topic, but it's bugging me.

when I was in highschool (about 1993-1994) there was a guy in school that had a 88-91 Honda Civic 2 door. So what's the big deal???? It was a 2 door coupe, not a hatchback, It looked like a sedan but with only 2 doors. the doors were the size of the hb (longer than the 4dr version)

So what's wy question???? My question is if anyone has any info on it, I can not find any info at all on that car, all I find is 4dr sedans and 3dr hb. I remember my ex gf mentioning seeing one too and everyone thought we were crazy because the only 88-91 2 doors were hb.

any pix or info on those?

thanks!

you must be mistaken somehow in your memory.

there were only 4 dr sedans, 3 dr hatchback, 2 dr CRX (coupes), and 5 dr wagons.

the only thing that comes close to your description is a CRX, but.... i would think that is easily recognizable. (nothing similar to the sedan other than the hood, and it had a hatch) if my name doesnt give it away... i consider myself a bit of an expert.

Did it look wagonish? if it had two doors but did not have a trunk then it was a 3 dr hatchback, there was no coupe that I can recall. If it had a trunk then maybe a 4dr with the rear doors welded/bondo/repainted to smooth it out, but that would be kinda stupid.

Actually, it did exist. It's the EJ1. I'm not sure if it was ever released in America, but a coupe version of the EG6 hatch did exist.

I remember the parts guy mentioning it once too.

it looks like a 4 door sedan, but with 2 doors, the doors could not have been welded shut because the 2 front doors were NOT the size of the 2 front doors of a 4 door. the 2 front doors were longer, the doors were about the size of the HB doors.

I thought about him welding the doors and bondo-ing them up, but the doors were a different size and the quater windows were different also.

the car was stock, just had wheels, I doubt he would go thru all the trouble oof making a 2 door version of a sedan and just slap wheels on it.

A friend of mine knew him, I'm going to ask him if he remembers the car.

And remember I mentioned my ex fg seen one also.

I have one. hes not mistaken at all. it has a body of a 5 door (not hatch) but i think the car this guy is talking about is the 2 door version. It has very long doors.... very long.

no you cant weld the rear doors then bondo everything up, because the whole roof supports are further back and the design of it has slightly changed.

excuse the ricer pictures and no its not my car but these are the ones for example i could find on a quick search....

the civic 2 door coupe that this guy is on about ( i think )

this is the 4 door version

as you can see the centre main side support is much further back on the 2 door than the 4 door so what you would be trying ot do would look totally stupid.
