civic si vs rsx-s
I've been looking online for quite sometime at a potential second car now that I'm almost done with graduate school. I have a few options--1. Keep driving the S as a solo vehicle 2. get a second car such as a civic (I'd prefer a si) 3. Trade in the S and get a more practical vehicle such as a TSX or something in that price range.
Anyways I'm not really interested in buying anything at the moment, nor am I interested in the RSX (I was prior to buying my S). But I am just wondering why on earth acura sells the the si in direct competition to the rsx-s. Seems to me that you get more for the money with the Civic Si.
Anyways are there any big differences between the two other than badging? Also any recommendations as to cars I should look at? What about keeping/selling my S? I'm leaning towards keeping it cause I really love it. I've got about 63k on it and is a blast to drive, but I dont want to keep putting the 'boring' miles on the car.

Well I haven't driven the Civic-Si yet, but I can say most of the threads I've seen on people who sold their S2Ks have a comment saying they missed it later...
From a specs standpoint the RSX might have a slight advantage on paper and be a few ticks faster. On the flip side the Civic has a newer, arguably sexier design and I think you can get more options with it. The look of the interior seems to get mixed reviews. I would say it would be hard to go wrong with either choice.

I just bought a car and spent a great amount of time researching the RSX Type S, the Civic Si, and the TSX, the three cars you mentioned (I was replacing my Accord, not my S2000)
The RSX Type S was the car I decided I'd get. I figured I could get it relatively cheap as it is discontinued and the Civic Si, well too many people paying a premium to get that car and there is a waiting list, and the Type S has the leather interior and the hatch w/wiper (which is nice for a winter car).
As it turns out the Type S is a little hard to find, but I thought dealers with them should be motivated since it is discontinued. The Type S can't make use of an IPOD or any other MP3 player, no navigation, etc. Really a hard sell for the type of person who is likely to be being an entry level acura.
One of the local Acura dealers had 3 Type S's on the lot. However, they were unwilling to sell them for less than MSRP.
The waiting list for Si's is too long, and I know someone who just bought one and after all of the forced "upgrades" and premiums he had to pay for just to have the right to get the Car of the Year, he paid $27K+ for the car.
As a result, I went to the other Acura dealer in my area and bought a TSX 6MT, no-navigation, and got it for less than what the person I know paid for the Civic Si.
I think you might be trying to do what I was trying to do -- get a car for winter or daily driving that is a close facsimile to the S2000. However, your not driving the S already, so why get a car that is like the S for driving that you already do not want to do with the S2000?
Also, neither the Si nor the Type S is really like the S2000 (they are all FWD, etc.).
The TSX has the same shifter knob as the Si and S2000, but it also has leather interior, heated seats, XM, ipod connectivity and Bluetooth handsfree link, and if you want to have a sportier suspension you can get the a-spec suspension.
The Si does not have the bluetooth handsfree link, and I often must make use of the phone while driving, and so it is the one feature that I have decided really is a must have on a daily driver.

My mom has just bought an 06' TSX, and I had recommended it to her. The car's very nice and is loaded with features. It came out to 27,5xx OTD, auto w/out navi. Makes me really consider picking one up for myself.
I really would like a tsx, since it seems like a nice car for driving around town, but I'm just not sure I can swing paying for both the tsx and S.
Thanks for the replies so far...I'm not ready to do anything yet as I'm kind of in the research phase right now. I normally spend about six months thinking things out before I get serious.
There just seem to be a lot of different options in the 25-35k price range and I'm just not sure. Now that the mazdaspeed 3 is out/soon to be out, thats a possibility. Also, I kind of like the new mustang gt's. I've never been a mustang fan, but I like the gt for the price. I'd at least like to test drive one.
