The bike isn't that great... there has already been 4 recalls and the bike isn't all that stable. I read a review on it the 1098 tricolore (1098S) the other day in comparison to the 999S. You have to read the review to get the full grasp of how garbage this first line is. I'd wait a couple of years before picking one up.

Sure looks nice though. A guy from Fort Worth pulled into the local dealer with a beautiful red 1098 Friday afternoon. It was gorgeous.

and where did you read this? I have read many reviews also about it and a new mag compairing the 999s and the new 1098 and 1098S against each other and it got rave reviews. Not to mention I have rode a base 1098 now and it is a dream to ride. I'm considering ditching my 07 R1 for a 1098S

In the lates Motorcyclist mag Doug Polen rode both a 999s and 1098s and went faster on the 999, with less setup, despite the 1098 having more power and weighing less.

The look and price on the 1098 are absolutely RIGHT, though!
Base model is $14,999, ~$4-5k cheaper than the base 999 was.

I think that was a little biased what you read since all I've read, heard and seen is that the 1098 while being cheaper is superior to the older and more expensive 999.

I think the 1098 is one sexy looking bike.

Some Ducati owners are just pist their older bikes will depreciate so much.

To me it makes no difference.
