Interesting article in Motor Trend. The GTO is more bang for the buck, but man, MB is using some huge horses these days. The MB has 12 more rated h.p. and is only about 100 lbs lighter, but puts 8 mph on the GTO in 1/4 mile trap. It would be interesting to see what the MB is putting to the ground.

 

MB underrates those cars worse than Ford or Chevy.

When is Motor Trend going to compare a 328 to a Z06?

 

Havn't seen the article, but the minute, minuscule amount of credibility Motor Trend had left went right down the drain if they put the GT0 head-to-head with the CLK55. What's next? G35 vs. 760Li? F150 vs. 911 GT3?

 

I would like to see a new F150 and the GT3 go at it...should be a real nail biter.

 

I'm not sure your comparisons are similar. With the CLK 55 & the GTO you have each companies hot rod 2 door 4 seat coupes with automatics. In general german cars are usually 2X to 3X more expensive than their American or Japanese counterparts. On price they are disimilar, but on vehicle configuration, and purpose they are very close.

 

Taking everything into account, the GTO was said to have 90% of the goodies whilst costing only 50% of the Merc. In short the GTO won.

 

That's like the time they compared the Honda Accord V6 coupe to the CLK320. The Accord performed better in every aspect and what's funny is that even looked a like a little bit. But I guess I can't see somebody who is looking at a Benz comparing it the CLK and vice versa.
