Comanche Concept
I would actually seriously consider this if it were cheap and the interior was comfy.

Now the price would have to be commensurate with the fact it has a wimpy engine and is based of a cheapy car. But if it were under $25k would be a really neat option.

Looks cool but a 5' bed and a single cab? At least put a real bed on the thing so you can actually use it as a truck. It's nearly useless in that config. No payload capability and you can't close the lift gate with common items in the bed. You can't even take a few friends with you. Very limiting vehicle.
It's a truck for princesses. No offense meant.

But as far as the bed goes, will it get an occasional sheet of plywood? Hall a little decking lumber? Some bags of rock salt or buckets of driveway sealcoat? Check, check, check. Good enough for most weekend work-around-the-house types.
Good enough for me.
And my driveway is 150 yards long, I could slap a baby plow on that in the winter.

I also think if it were cheap enough it would be a huge hit with the well to do parents buying for their high school and college age kids.
Looks like the sort of vehicle for people who currently use a John Deere Gator on their property, like the $13,195 XUV825i Power Steering, and need to upgrade to something similar that's legal for on-road use. Except - you say the Comanche will be FWD? Well, scratch that - it'll have to be pavement only, I suspect.
Like the "Deck the Halls" Christmas song?
This is a single cab with a very small bed Jeep Renegade. Looks cute. Too cute IMHO. Too bad they don't butch it up a bit and really put the EcoDiesel 3.0 V6 in it with a 5 or six speed manual, lock diffs front and rear. Hell yeah. I could mount one of those!

Now, that is a concept i can get behind- about the best i've seen from FCA. Its a great looking design. but, being as no one asked me, this is what it needs to be successful.
1. keep the diesel- offer petrol options. It's not meant to be quick- its meant to be basic.
2. RWD only, offer 3 pedals, as well as 2 pedal option. Later on you can offer a real 4WD with manually locking front hubs.
3. locking rear diff standard.
4. Has to be off road capable- as in "as good as a real Jeep"- not a renegade which isn't a "real" Jeep.
5. made in north america and not based on the renegade- which as i've heard from an FCA mechanic- is pretty shoddy in construction and ability.
6. basic interior with no BS- no connectivity, no power windows, no screens, no power seats, and for the hard core, no A/C- this is meant to be a real jeep, not built for a princess but built for the marlboro man. Don't like it, too bad. Let the Renegade follow the comfort, street-able, "luxury" creed.
You can't make this concept for the masses- every god damned vehicle does not have to appeal to everyone. Make it functional, make it real. Have some respect for the jeep name.
there you go- my plan for comanche success.
