Comparison: E46 regular M3 and competition pkg M3
I had an normal M3 and my neighbor had an M3 with the competition package. Their biggest complaint was having to drive long distances without cruise control. The M-Track button sounds like a cool option but DSC in the E46 was pretty horrible.
my best friend just traded his '05 M3 comp for an '08 335i sedan (he needs 4 doors now).
he says it's junk compared to his M3 - he didn't mean it literally, but he had a huge laundry list of why the M3 was better.
i'll see if i can get him to give me the issues again.

The posts by many the people here seem to feel that the ZCP (competition pkg) is a waste in comparison to a non-ZCP M3.
My next question is SMG transmission compared to the 6 speed manual, I feel the SMG would be more fun and practical for daily driving and track time.

" In fact, this 335i sedan beat the last 333-hp 2005 M3 Competition Package we tested in every measurable way.
It danced away from the M-spec two-door in the run to 60 mph by a half-second, stopped from 60 mph 1 foot shorter, and raced through the slalom 2 mph quicker. Since we pronounced the $55,840 M3 "The Best M3 Ever Sold in America," what does this make the $44,270 335i?"

here was mine:

the "competition" package is worthless imo. the only m3 worth differentiating is the csl which you can't buy here anyways.
i'd honestly get the newest cleanest m3 u can afford, and throw some real 19s and real adjustable coilovers on it.

Amer, hint hint.... These facts would really bother me granted the M is effin beautiful.
iceman, for a guy who owns an s2000 you sure do love the straight line monkey racing comparisons
with that said, the straight line speed between the 335i and 46 m3 are so close, it's splittin hairs... like 2.0 v. 2.2
so you insisting on the straight line speed differences just makes you look like a hair splitter
