Yeah, getting a driver's license in Germany is much more rigorous than it is in the States.
And much much more expensive.

about $1500-2000. Makes getting a license here seem pathetic.

Ok, but let's not pretend that German drivers are so good that they never have accidents, especially on the stretches with no speed limits.

"Last year 600 people died on the autobahns, while 9,000 were badly injured. Two-thirds of those accidents occurred on stretches with no speed limit."

I'm not arguing for a speed limit on the autobahns, but I think it's not true that driving 200 mph is safe just because the drivers are "better."

back at you. Drivers actually pay attention in Europe and hardly ever go in the fast lane unless they really need to. They actually check their mirrors too.
Maybe in mainland Europe but definitely not in the UK. Lane discipline in the UK is extremely poor.

Doesn't matter where it is, driving THAT fast with OTHER PEOPLE on the road is extremely reckless.

It's not reckless if the other people are aware of the fact that there is no speed limit. Not like he's doing something surprising.

If it is reckless it'd be against the law. Fact of the matter is, less fatalities happen on the autobahn than on interstates in america.

I still say you guys need to check some statistics. If you believe wikipedia:

Road fatalities per billion vehicle-km's:

Germany 7.4

United States 9

So who has more cojones...the Vette guy going 200, or the Fiat driver doing 100 with no fuel in his tank?
