Default Daytonas

I'm looking at getting a 955i or 600 . Does anyone have one? I like to do sport riding, but I'm an old guy so I don't need anything that is at the cutting edge of speed. Thanks.

I've never ridden a Daytona, but I have an '02 speed triple, which is essentially the same bike as a daytona 955i (i.e. same engine, but less horse power, 147hp vs. 118). if you're looking for more of an upright position, while maintaining a lot of sport bike characteristics, you might want to consider a speed triple. if you're looking for more sport/touring, a lot of folks look at the Sprint, which has the same 3 cylinder engine, I believe, used in the triple and daytona.

check out these sites for more info, particularly from folks that own the bikes you're considering:

I just bought a Daytona 955. It is my first bike, and i couldnt be happier....the riding position is incredibly comfortable, it handles like a dream, and it is incredibly well balanced. I would definetely reccomend it to anyone.

Not bad for a first bike! I had an F4 (Honda, not Agusta) and I liked it light weight easy going manner. But not being that interested in breaking any track records, I wanted something more refined, yet light weight enough for me to handle. I ride my friends's Super Hawk, but didn't really enjoy the buzziness of the V-twins. But then I started another friend's Sprint 955 and as soon I turned it on in her garage, I can feel the smoothness of the motor - its almost like an electric motor. In a car, it would be like a silky V-12.

How are you dealing with the weight, especially at low speeds and it being your first bike? How much did you pay, what year? I see many used '02's going for like $6-7k in great condition. Almost a no-brainer. Have any pics?!

The bike is so well balanced that i really have no problem with the weight....when i am at a light or something and my feet are down, it feels like i have less weight on my feet than when i am standing up. It is an 02, blue, with 1300 miles on it.....i only paid $6500 for the bike, plus Arai helmet(aprrox $700 brand new) and alpine stars jacket. I bought it from one of my dad's friends who owns over 15 bikes and takes very well care of all of them so i know nothing is wrong with the bike. It still has 1 year warranty left on it too. I have quite a few pics but i need someone to host them for me.

I picked up an 04 Daytona 600 about a month ago. I love it! I had an 01 TT600 and it runs laps around the TT! It is a rare bike that you won't see a lot of and it is a thrill to ride! If your going to buy one do your research & don't let your dealer push you around.
You can find more info on http://daytona600.org
