Default Dealer trade-in help.

I ordered the replacement for my S2000 last night but have a question on the trade in value that I was given from the dealership. NADA black book, Kelly blue book all put my car in good, not excellent, condition at around 20K dealer trade in.

Every time I have traded a car in I have gotten within 500 bucks or so of these values with no problem. (Pulled from the internet) I understand that it is less then what I could get selling it outright but I don't want to take the liability of selling the car and the cost of my time to do it, and I get the tax credit.

But this time they offered me almost 6K eek3: under these numbers, (~13K) I was wondering if the influx of special financing and has affected dealer trade in values or if this specific dealer is off their rocker.

I obviously did not trade the car in at 13K but would love to know if all dealerships are doing this on used cars or just this one is crazy. The cheapest S2000 in the paper right now in san diego is for 17K with 80K milage in a 00 so I know that I am not off my rocker on pricing.

i was given within $500 of what the KBB said for my 2001 S2000 when I traded it in.......

Your car has stripes?????? if they are Viper like, i would imagine that would knock a ton off the resale..... pics please.

What did you order...out of curiosity.

They were low-balling you, but the mods that only some people are into decrease value, stock is better than most, FI on the S2000 being the one big exception.

No stripe's anymore. If you do a search under my handle you can find a few threads where I posted pictures of my stripes. They were a mix of viper and 69 SS style stuff. Large bold stripes with a nice sized follower.

The car is almost completely back to stock except for the rim's and tires which are some nice sedate 18's. I take amazing care of my car and in fact even had it proffesionally detailed about 4 days before I came in. Now I am realy pissed, I know that I got a amazing deal on the new car. Almost enough to cover the 6K that I was able to wiggle out of on the deal, do to a misatake on the saleman part. Maybe they just wanted to shock me out of the room.

Any more people get a decently close KBB value on there S2000's.

I got a quote of $22K for my 03 silverstone + hardtop with just 9,000 miles. that was KBB for "good" condition trade in (-$500).

I would tend to think my car is in "excellent" condition which would add about $2000 more.
Needless to say I didn't trade it.

But your offer seems way low.

not sure about california vs pennsylvania, but i only got $23,500 (spring of 2003) for my 2001 with 16k miles...... it was like new too.......

I wouldn't think they would give you $20,100 for your car with 47k miles on it...... i doubt you could sell it for that much privately....... but the $13k that they offered was obviously not right either.

Well there is not a single car out here that I have seen that would be under 24K in the paper with my milage and condition. Heck there are some in the high 27's not that they would ever sell. San Diego is a weird market sometimes as we have a over abundance of convertables, but here you can use them as dailys. I personally would not mind if they gave me 19K I could care less about 1K here or there in life, but 6 is another matter all together.

Seems to be dealer dependent based on some peoples observations, maybe I should just swing by another dealer and get a quote.

Anybody else have some numbers that they care to share.
