Default The Difference between Gm and BMW!

Here's something for everyone who's going nuts over the 08' C6 to think about.
Every one's been whining about the early Step. 335i's with sport package not having the external air/oil cooler. So me being a concerned owner was pissed and fell into the internet trap of getting paranoid. I never had one overheating issue with my car and I'm leasing so why should I care? Well I felt I deserved the oil cooler I was promised with the sport pack. so I e-mailed BMW NA and complained. The next day I received a call from the main guy for the south east apologizing and offering to install the oil cooler,I accept. A month later my local BMW dealership(that I did not purchase the car from) calls me to tell me the parts are in and we arrange for an install. Wife goes to the dealership and they give her an 07' 328xi wagon for a loaner. The install could not be completed that day so she had to return home (70mile trip). The next day they call us and the car is ready but we can't make it due to our work and school schedules. That following day they call us to inform us they are sending a driver if thats ok with us ( a 60 something retired guy) to deliver the car and pick-up the loaner. The car arrived washed and vacuumed with no hassle what so ever.
Rewind......my 05' Corvette, took it to a dealer for the Crank Pulley upgrade (so it wouldn't fall off ) 4 hours away because he was the only dealer willing to do it.I get there at 9 in the morning so I had to leave at 5am.They assured me they could get it done in a day and I was willing to wait.I waited allright and the tech came in and informed me he wasn't able to get to my car till 1pm and so he probably couldn't finish by closing time. The sevice manager says "why don't you stay at a local hotel and we'll finish it tomorrow"? I said ok am I supposed to pay for this? His answer was "Chevrolet does not offer this service yes you'll have to pay but we'll get you a good rate and take you there"! So I said"Just give me a loaner and I'll come back in a couple of days.We can arrange a rental car sir but we do not give loaners for this type of problem.
This is why I will have a hard time buying another GM anything, and lets not forget if you want the privilege and honor of a museum delivery its gonna cost you and you'll still have to pay destination charges! I guess that comes with "We are the Best Performance bargain ever " attitude.

well... the cost of the 4 hour trip and the hotel and food, etc... rental, added up, would still be less than the premium you would pay for a similar sized bmw over a similar sized chevy... so there... u pay less, you get less... for the bmw, u pay more, you get treated better later on... a lot of times, more than the premium you payed, cause people put different values on their "time and hassle"...

just a fellow bmw fan breaking down your rant for the proletariat...

Don't know where you live, but here in Cali, BMW uses generic parts for their free maitenance program (brake pads, oil, etc)... but will tell you all day long to buy parts only at BMW.
Let's also compare, GM vs. BMW... why would you expect the same kind of service? When I go to McDonalds, I don't expect them to clean up after me, I pick up my tray and throw away my own garbage without any complaint but believe me I throw up a fuss when my water isn't refilled within 5 minutes when I'm savoring a filet mignon. When my burger is burnt, I just toss it and buy another one to avoid being a spectacle and getting a new burger that's been spat on but I do expect my steak to be replaced if it's cooked medium well when I ordered medium rare. Now if you were talking about your Cadillac, that'd be a different story, but we're talking about a Chevy.
By the way, Honda dealerships aren't that great either, I mean just look at all the problems most of the owners have had on these forums alone.
Not to be all negative or something, but you're not exactly comparing apples with apples here. If you were comparing Mercedes against BMW, sure, or used Toyota against Chevy sure, but BMW against Chevy?
But my problem isn't as bad as your's. I have at least two of almost any mass production car manufacturer within 20 miles of where I live, but I'd be lucky if any of them were to accept my car at a moment's notice for an oil change.

"We really have to overlook a lot to be vette enthusiasts: Lousy dealer service, horrible paint quality, outdated 2nd rate NAV system, etc. etc."

I had a flat tire today! A coworker noted that they walked by my car and heard the hissing. By the time I got out there it was completely flat. Instead of getting all dirty in my work cloths, I called up Lexus road assist. 45 mins later 2 guys from Lexus of Portland show up in a Lexus RX400h with a fancy tool kit that rolled out the back. Guy jumps out like NASCAR and jacks it up and slaps on the spare. 10 mins later they leave. I loved it!

Now compare this to our $40000 05 Pilot. Wife keeps getting stranded due to battery problems. Clearly to me I know its a problem. Call up the dealer, let them know she keeps getting stranded and there

Sounds a lot like us and S2000s, except we get NO NAV...

Many dealers of all makes are shit. I'm sure there are Chevy dealers that take great care of vettes. You only hear about the problems on the internet, seldom do you hear about excellent service.
