Hi folks, I'm trying to decide what to do with my vehicles and I'm grown weary of my own thought process. I'm 48 w/ 6 yr old twins. We have 3 cars: 04 Odyssey, my 03 S2K and a 68 318 Dodge Charger that is nice daily driver quality. My little boy is digging cars now and I would like to take him to car events with me in a "fun" car. The Charger is not good for interstate trips because I don't think its that safe for him in case of an accident and I don't like leaving the Charger for my wife to use for the same reason. The S2K is my reliable DD for work trips as well as mountain runs and VIR trips.

So... Sell 1 "fun" car and get a 4 person safe, enthusiast car. Sell both "fun" cars and replace with 1 car. Do nothing and enjoy a classic and a sportscar. I don't want to spend much if any money over the cars I have now. Each is worth 15-17k.

My dilemma I'm sure I share with other S2K drivers, is finding something that is as much fun and reliable as the S. I've been trying out other cars that seem to contain some driving passion and they all feel like such a compromise in comparison. Evo8,9 seems the closest but they seem overpriced compared to the s2k and they all seem to be modded and from experience that kind of car is hard to resell down the road. Had a 02 WRX before the S but unless modded they are pretty boring and the stock 05 STI I drove had a very uncomfortable interstate ride. I tried a stock Type R Integra which was fun even if fwd but it seemed a little "high school" and I'm wary of theft. I'm sure some of you guys have been through this and look forward to hearing your experience. Thanks.

4 seats- muscle car- easy to find stock ones....

 

Maybe EvoX or the new 5doorSTI Id imagine its hard to find something as rewarding as the S while being family friendly at the same time, Good luck

um.. no brainer.. .keep the Charger. That's a classic that will only be more appreciated in time.

 

I say stay with what you have unless the S2k does not do it for you anymore.


If you don't want to spend any money, you won't do any better than what you have.

I am not a muscle car guy so I ditch the old boat anchor and look at a 3 series but I'll get killed here for saying that. But if you want a car that you enjoy driving, it sounds as if you use it the least.

If you want an investment car that you can wax three times a year and put 100 miles on thats a different ball of wax. I owned an old car with value for a short time, but ditched it because I did not appreciate it as much as the guy who paid top dollar for it. And I got to spend the money on what I liked.

But if you truly love the car then you can't sell it. Everyone I know who has done similar always says "I never should have sold that car." But since you are proposing the idea, maybe its not that special anymore.

There is also my friend who had an old plymouth road runner and he had a few good offers on it but kept it to drive. In a rain storm he went off the road into a ditch and ruined the car. (he drives like a show off though) Insurance paid very little............
