Agreed, but the US has a wide array of terrain which other countries just don't have. We have everything from desert, to red canyons, to forests, to alpine drives, etc. I believe quality of roads also matters, so this rules out many other countries.

There are a lot more roads in Oregon than they list that are pretty amazing

nice find!

although, while some of those drives are probably pure exhilaration, they should have excluded some of those drives from the article. for instance, the drive from mainland FL to Key West has got to be one of the most boring drives ever (at least for us sports car owners). i mean the scenery is ok, but i still wouldn't categorize it as a drive of a lifetime lol.

One thing to consider (reposting):

Ubetit once posted a link HERE for a free "brochure" from Byways.org that had great roads.

Back then, this "brochure" turned out to be THIS. 460+ pages of roads, photos and descriptions of what to see/do on the roads.



I think it's now an actual limited brochure, but worth trying for the full book since it's free!

I got the free book from that link back then- score!

They definitely missed out on the Beartooth Pass/Chief Joseph highway. Far superior to some of the roads they posted.
