Duc 749S or 1000RR??
Yah she's right, just because someone's riding around on a R1 you can't assume that he or she is a good rider. You just know that the person could afford the bike. Somebody who's more skillful on a 600cc can hand a literbike it's ass on the track anyday. As far as seeing a chick on a R1, well one thing for sure is that she's tall enough.

I saw a man today when I was out on my bike, I gave him lots of space cos he looked like he couldn't ride for $hit..... in fact everytime I see a man riding a bike I presume that he can't ride properly, is really slow and only bought his bike because he has a small *&^%

Dude,
I was trying to add a bit of humour & sarcasm to make a point, sorry for being harsh on ya
.
I've been riding for 21 years & have had nearly as many bikes, so I'm sorry for being so flippant but if I had

That is a tough choice. I think you would get bored of the power on the 749 if you already have a 600rr which I believe is quicker. You would be buying it for the V-twin and possibly better handling.
Go with the 1000 and you will feel a world of difference. I have an 04 R1 and my buddy has the 996 and his bike looks pretty but the power difference is huge. The ducati's always had the edge on cornering and track but the new litre bikes are all so improved that I don't think the duc's could pull away anymore.
Don't go for the 749 just for the name and prestige. If that's the one you want then I am sure you will be happy with either bike because both are great.

Way cool you've done the Ring ! My wife and I drive the Ring every time we are over there. Last time we had Sabine Schmitz drive us around in a Ring taxi (M5 ) as my wife did course notes into a voice recorder. That night she transcribed them into a notebook as I drove. Haven't done it on a bike but does the bike get much air over the Flugpatz ? We got all four wheels of 996 Porsche airborne.
Getting back to bikes, most people guys or girls can't ride a modern sportbike anywhere near the bikes performance levels. I spent 10 years here in the states road racing sportbikes in the AMA series and I'm still learning every time I ride. I currently ride a Honda 954RR and a Suzuki Hayabusa with a turbo-charger. We did 207mph during a timed run and the bike will do 0 to 150 in around 7 or so seconds . Now that's a bike that you won't get bored quickly with.
Ride hard ,ride fast. And your sports car or sportbike better show some cheese on the tires. Otherwise take a bus.
