with my experience with E36M3. To get the most power out of OBDII cars. You have to convert it back to OBDI, and cam the car. It will have more than 320HP when you are done with it. (just ask me how I know)

Was in a similar situation years ago between a Supra TT, 300ZXTT, M3, RX-7, then drove a, some may say, "wimpy" Integra Type-R......Sold end of story. Why? City handling to me was more important than a 700 hp Supra. They say its more fun to drive a slow car fast, than drive a fast car slow.

Test drive a pre and post 1997 E36 M3, yes pre-97 are easy to mod right off the bat, and quite a few grand cheaper. You won't feel the need for a rollbar right off the bat if you want to track an M car either, relative to the S2000 that is- you were modding it for a reason....right? You'll find the clutch much easier and gearbox smoother, more precise on the S2000. Do you want a tank with four stiff leather seats and great low end torque, or a tossable convertible with two cockpit-like seats you can sit *in*screaming through the hills of Cali at 9 (reliable) grand? Different cars for different interests. One good thing about both cars 95-98 M cars and 2-3 yo S2000s is they should exhibit little depreciation from current levels for some time (very much unlike E46 M3s), and its a buyers market in today's fragile ecomony.

Yeah i did a little research on the conversion, but I still don't know much about it. Wouldn't the price of that conversion be like over 6k? Do I really need to make upgrades on the rear end of the s2k if I want to supercharge it and keep it reliable?

Go to the "Street Encounters" forum on S2ki and ask Wesmaster (or just send him a PM...he's a moderator). He's got a great deal of experience with a blown S2k. He can tell you the kinds of problems he had to overcome given that he drives the car the way it should be driven.
