Default The end of Mitsubishi?

Well maybe not the end, but it is def bad news. They failed in their revival plan, compare this to Nissan who actually is doing very well after its sucessful revival plan. Japanese car anaylsts are calling this a mjor crisis for mitsu.

This was pretty interesting to. "Sales in Japan have never recovered after Mitsubishi Motors acknowledged four years ago that it had systematically hidden auto defects for decades. The company recalled millions of vehicles. The automaker had already suffered losses as it struggled to compete with Japanese rivals Toyota Motor Corp. (news - web sites) and Honda Motor Co. (news - web sites)" Brought to you by the AP.

I've never owned a mitsu, but is this why I always hear that they are unreliable?

In the end, all other Japanese automakers will die out, except for Toyota and Honda, which eventually will become the world's biggest and 2nd biggest automakers, respectively.

A car company that's hidden defects for decades? I think that can be applied to EVERY car manufacturer.

I'm sorry to hear this, but I don't think it's unexpected. With the exception of the Evo, the rest of Mitsu's lineup is extraordinarily boring. Plus, their dealer network SUCKS!

But the Evo--I can't help believe that any manufacturer who produced such a car could do anything else wrong. Perhaps Mitsubishi should just drop everything and focus on building hardcore sports cars.

I don't think it's unexpected, beside the EVO, what other cars does Mistubishi make? I honestly have to think hard to pull mitsubishi car names out of my head.

Mitsubishi really needs to go out of business anyways. I actually know people that refers to them as YUGOS!

I think they need to make lots and lots of EVOs (at least the same QTY as WRXs), price it at around $22~23k and make some real money in the US.

I remember reading somewhere (correct me if I am wrong), but I think Mitsubishi is one of the largest companies in the world. They are much like General Motors in that the car part of their business is actually one of their smaller revenue generators. So while this is a large setback for them, it may just very well be the wake up call that is needed to either get into the car business full bore or get out of it.

Mitsubishi really blows. All the stories I've heard over on the Evo and DSM forums...makes me sick. I'm not surprised they're on the IV bag. I hope they fall out off the ladder, so my Evo would be worth more .
