Default everything is sporty

random annoying thought.

does it strike you as being odd at all that everyone wants "sportiness" in their car, no matter what car it is? in cars that have no business trying to be sporty, like pig fat sedans or suvs, ad people still use "race inspired" while they should simply be saying "comfortable as hell." the general public isn't even into car racing yet they want to have it in their car.

also, why are steering rations so large? wouldn't more sensitive steering help everyone avoid accidents etc?

More sensitive steering help everyone avoid accidents ? are you kidding me ? Thank god the ratios are that large, otherwise everybody will get killed by that woman putting up her make up, or that dude in the lifted truck trying to light his cigarette, or that chick picking up her cell phone from her purse.

because deep down, everyone wants a pimpin' sports car. They can't have one, so they drive a minivan. But it's a race-inspired minivan.

I don't know, I find it retarded as well, but if it sells vehicles...

Good point!

Only real drivers need shorter steering ratios.

on a race track. yet some people thinks public roads are race tracks.

they put the word sport as a reference to something fun. race and sport is not the same.

you're looking at it from a "now" point of view. people would acclimate to the tighter ratios and in emergency situations, the car would respond faster.

I don't think the main issue that causes accidents is related to steering ratios. It's quite the opposite, people not paying attention whatsoever. The tighter ratios would probably make that worse, not better.

Strictly from the stand point of turning the car to avoid obstacles, sure, tighter is better. But that's not what causes the accidents 99.9% of the time.
