OK, is there a plan for future hi-po "factory" model in the next few years? I understand there is a "non-US" version 6-speed etc...

I'm not into modding my car myself but I like the idea of a "factory" special like the STi.

supposedly the lame ass RS is coming next year... rollup windows, no a/c, no power locks, no rear wing..... then add back a front limit slip diff.........somehow all of that nets to about 100lbs of weight savings and a cost of roughly $27k. same engine though......and same 5 speed.....

Seems lame to me..... they should have gone with more HP and a 6 speed..... Not too many folks are really intersted in sweating their balls off in the summer and getting to listen to the sweat drip off their balls since their is no radio!!!!!

That might be good for a winter "beater", but I think it also lacks ABS. I don't think I'd buy a car without ABS. Can't see why drop the ABS unless it's because ABS is not good on dirt (off-road).

they're prolly just "testing the waters" with the evo8. i would assume if sales go well, we'll get the full evo9 when it comes out. complete with 6 speed, AYC, and whatever else we're missing.

no plan on 6 speed, acd or ayc.
the rumor was that they are testing the water, and if the sale was good,
they will bring evo 9 with all the japanese spec.
but, they decided not to at all, after numerous comparison, with american evo vs.
japanese evo, wrx, sti.

acd and ayc certainly do help, but the best performing evo was actually the ones without them.
in straights american spec sti is faster, but on tracks the difference is very minimal.
lastly, evo is known as better handling and performing than regular wrx.

so, 6-speed evo with acd and ayc might just end up as another jdm fantasy for us who
live in the states,
at least we know that we just have to wait another year or so for another rumor.

GChambers - it is pretty well known that Evolution Imports is totally bogus. they have not delivered even 1 car to a customer who bought it for the street. They collected $30k up front from about 6 Evo VII buyers almost 2 full years ago..... the cars are in the country but are still at the registered importers.... they will not EVER be legalized. they tried to get them through without crash testing.... then mitsubishi mentioned about 15 differences between the Evo VII and the Evo VIII and put the kibosch on that!

go to www.evolutionm.net and search Evolution imports... someone named Se

o ya.... in the UK they have something called a MR edition (i think that is what it is called).... 300+ hp, carbon fiber roof, etc....... costs more, but you get more....... unlike the stripper model that no one outside of a racecar driver would want.

Yes...his name is ADAM.... he is a theif..... please check on the evolution website before you believe anything (i mean anything) that he says.

I spoke to him 2+ years ago about an Evo VII....great guy (it seemed)... he wanted $30k prepaid and claimed the Evo's would be legal and ready soon...... after some folks actually plunked down the $, EI snuck the cars into the country a backasswards way avoiding putting up the normal bond..... then they actually delivered them with "race / show" restrictions (which they were not), then they were recalled......and now 2 years later none of the people have their Evo VII's.......

plus...how likely would it be to swap a right hand drive car to left hand and still make any $? that is not like just moving the steering wheel.....it would involve drilling into the firewall, moving engine pieces, etc.......

They also claim to have Civic type R's, etc.......... there is no chance of getting one of those into the country and getting it legally registered either!!!!

Sorry for the long reply....but is a shame that people are getting suckered!
