evo and a s2000
Well I own both. Evo wins hands down stock vs. stock on the street. But on the track I'd take an unmodded S2000 vs. an unmodded Evo.
My SC'd S2000 just edges out a Vishnu tuned Evo w/cams AND my own WORKS flash'd Evo in a straight line (roll on). In the twisties...well the Evo will pull in any gear (or the same gear) whereas you've got to match corner speed in the S2000 with just the right gear so you can snikt into the right RPM for drive out of the corner (not always possible). But on all the road courses I've driven, I'm faster in my S2000 than I am in my Mitsu. With that said, I've also spent quite a bit more $$$ on the Honda.
In summary:
Stock vs. Stock on the track: S2000
Stock vs. Stock on the street: Evo
Mod vs. Mod street or track: Evo
Unlimited S2000 vs. modded Evo street: Evo
Unlimited S2000 vs. modded Evo track: S2000
Unlimited vs. Unlimited street or track: Evo
Verdict--if you've got a lot of money to blow and have some driving talent, go with the S. If not, you'll be happier with the more forgiving, easier to drive (but less engaging) do-it-all Evo.
