EVO Warranty
Car and Driver had a short article about claims made by some EVO owners that their warranty is being dropped by Mitsubishi BEFORE the car is even looked at by a dealer tech. Apparently, many owners have been complaining that Mitsu routinely searches the internet for names of owners who autocross their cars and blacklists them.
If the allegations are true, Mitsubishi may have nailed its coffin with grassroots racing enthusiasts. With Mazda, Honda, Subaru and others OPENLY embracing the use of their cars in this manner, I just don't see how Mitsu thinks this a winning strategy?
They better make quick work of either trying to dispel these rumors (which apparently have legs under them) or nixing this archane system altogether.

My last DSM was a 99 Eclipse GS-T which was putting out about 350 FWHP. I had an issue with a door handle that needed to be replaced which should have been covered under warranty. Mitsubishi denied my warranty because they saw pillar gauges and an FMIC on my car. I hope they lose their ass...
Mitsubishi is losing their asses right now. They're hemmoraging cash at an alarming rate, so they're looking for any ways to save money. One way to do this is to void warranties.
Screw Mitsubishi. I have a good friend with a modded Evo and I really like it and he hasn't had any problems with it, but I still wouldn't buy one for the sole reason that it's built by a company struggling to survive.

They're doing more harm than good. If they didn't void the warranties, they would have MANY more potential customers.

Nothing like good customer service to keep bringing folks back. It's a shame since it is a great car at an affordable price. However, I don't see why any enthusiast would get one knowing full well that the car's potential as an autocrosser could not be exploited. Seems like a waste.
