Default Experience with paintless dent repair?

After looking for a car for months, I finally bought one today. I bought a 2004 grand prix white/tan S with 2,700 miles for $26,300. I know it's not necessarily a screaming deal but for the color and condition, I was happy to pay the negotiated price. I looked at a ton of cars and am a little surprised that I came back to the S (I had an '02 for one year and 30,000 miles that I sold in Dec. '02). I considered (and drove) an '02 Z06, '05 GTO 6MT, '05 G35 6MT sedan, '05 WRX STI, '03-'04 330i with p.p. and 6MT, '06 325i 6MT, '05 Legacy GT wagon 5MT, '06 Acura TSX 6MT, '05 Rustang GT 5MT convertible, '02 Boxster S 6MT, '06 Miata 6MT, and . . . I think that's it. Anyway, the S is beautiful. I just love the white/tan. The only blemish on the car that I could find (and it took me more than 20 minutes of looking) is a tiny dimple on the driver's side where someone probably opened a car door into it. It is really incredibly minor. The car was stored under a cover in the woman's garage with a Hemi Durango parked next to it. I suspect someone opened the Durango's door into the S while the cover was on because there is absolutely no paint damage associated with the dimple. So, I'd like to get the dimple removed if possible. Does anyone have any experience with paintless dent removal? Does this work well. Would you guys/girls recommend giving it a try? I'd appreciate the thoughts of anyone who has had this done. Thanks.

Paintless dent removal works great for certain kinds of dents, and it sounds like yours is a prime candidate. The dent artist needs access to the inner surface of the sheet metal, so they will either have to drill a small hole in your wheel well if the dent is on a fender, or remove the inner door panel if the dent is on the door. It is well worth it to make your panel look like new again.

BTW, congratulations on the new car. White & Tan is a great color. White looks awesome with bronze wheels. Think about it.

Thanks, CBeyond. I will look into it. Bronze wheels, eh? They probably would look really good. I dunno, though. I also really like the '04-'05 factory wheels. Not sure if I'll want to make the investment either. This is most likely going to be a 20-24 month period of ownership (that was what makes the used car so appealing). My next door neighbor already said he has dibs on it, and I haven't even picked it up from the seller yet.

Wow, that was a LONG setup for a quick question about PDR.

It is ALL about the technician. Find someone that has been doing PDR for a LONG time and you should be VERY happy with the result. The AL hood is a bit more tricky, but can be repaired sucessfully also by an experienced technician.

When I first read, " I bought a 2004 grand prix white/tan S with 2,700 miles for $26,300" I missed the part about the "S" and thought you bought a used 2004 Grand Prix (Pontiac) for $26K. LOL

I had some time this afternoon, and I thought the thread would be more interesting if we just ended up talking about the cars as much as the PDR. My threads never really go anywhere.

That would REALLY be a bad deal. What's a 2004 Grand Prix worth, $2,700???

You could keep the stock wheels, and get them painted a bronze.
