It definitely is but that's almost 50 less RWHP than the new M3 has and the IS-F is heavier. Obviously the previous thread posting a tested trap speed of 114mph is just a fantasy.
Firstly, what kind of dyno did they use?

Secondly, I'm sure C&D bolted a jet-burner in the back of the car to catapult the car to that trap speed. Other mags have gotten 112, 113, so it's not too far off.

C&D has publicly declared that all of their test numbers are the result of doing runs in one direction and opposite direction, and taking the average of the best run in each direction. C&D's times are as reliable as anyone's times out there. They are good drivers (Csere's been driving cars, both professionally and privately for decades) and they test cars more completely.

And no, they did not strap a jet in the back of the IS-F to boost its speed.

As has already mentioned, I put little faith in magazine numbers...we'll see how they do n the real world upon release. In reality I could care less...the car is ugly IMO, Lexus went way overboard and ruined a beautiful car (IS350) as far as I'm concerned. As if that weren't enough I don't buy automatics unless I'm not the primary driver so even if it were a stellar perfomer I wouldn't touch it. As I have mentioned before...I love Lexus reliability and I like what they did with the IS350 aside from no manual option and I wish they would really bring the goods.

Can someone tell me who buys cars like this? M3 sedans, M5s, C63s, RS4s, IS-Fs, etc? What is the point?

You just have to have four seats AND run to 60 in 4 seconds? You need a fraction of utility AND a stiff suspension that pounds your teeth out? Pick Granny up for church and drag race that turbo Supra on the way?

If you want a sports car, why not buy one instead of a two-ton sedan? Just love that four-door styling? I know that not everyone can afford two cars, but I just don't see the logic in having 400 HP saddled to a five passenger vehicle weighing more than a Brinks truck.

I have an M Coupe and a TSX. The Acura is comfortable, carries people, and doesn't give my wife whiplash when I hit the gas. The BMW does everything else

This requires a whole other thread buddy. Its all about preference. The ablility to do it all at once just incase you ever want to. Simple as that.

I suppose you're right. If I only wanted one car, I guess I'd think differently.

LOL...my 335 is around 400 RWHP and weighs about 3,300 pounds so I will crush a stock IS-F but even a stock 335 puts down around 280RWHP but weighs over 300 lbs. less than the IS-F. Given the considerable torque advantage the 335 has then it won't be too far off...throw any piggy back on the 335 and it will be pulling the IS-F with 330RWHP and 3,700+ lbs. BTW...my E46 M3 will be laying it down on the new IS-F as well and it's still NA...320RWHP and 3,100 lbs. and all they'll be seeing is my tail lights.

I agree completely...in all honesty I don't think Lexus has justified the price difference over the normal IS350 which I believe to be a great car. I would rather buy an IS350...spend $10K on mods and still save another $10K over the IS-F.
dude, you can't compare a modded car to an unmodded car. apples & oranges. Even more so when you're talking lexus reliability vs. BMW w/ procede.

My point is that at $65K the IS-F will surely lose some of it's 'would be' buyers to cars like the 335 that has factory FI and can be modded to be the faster of the two for not much money. Also, given a choice of the M3 or the IS-F at the same price the BMW will win out with most enthusiasts...the Lexus will lose any advantage it might have without under-cutting the BMW's price. What is YOUR experience with Lexus reliability versus a 335 with a Procede...I'm gonna guess none. I have had zero issues with my 335 and I have owned Lexus vehicles as well...mostly SUV's but I bought an IS300 when they first introduced the manual tranny and the car was dull....booring and I sold it after a month because it was probably the least fun vehicle to drive that I have ever owned. I still have yet to see any issues with the Procede on the 335 and there are people with over 20K miles with the Procede. I would always expect to have more 'issues' with a modified vehicle but that hasn't been my personal experience and I've owned lots of vehicles and almost all of them have been modified. And BTW, I can compare anything I want to anything else I want...that's my freedom.

I'd rather have a 335 vs. an IS-F too, but it still isn't really comparable.

I was going to say the same thing but he posted a pretty good counter argument back to me and gave him the benefit of being a good guy that probably knew that. I would have said something like "well, I hope that guy in the IS-F doesn
