Default f20c powered miata

i just purchased a 2001 miata with a blown motor for 2gs and i am going to start a new project with it. i have a few questions? Is there a motor mount kit out there for this swap or is it going to have to be custom? i have about 25grand to play with and im not sure if i want to do a toda 2.5l stroker and do some autocrossing or if i should make this beast a street and strip warrier. if i do the later i am going to fully build a f20c and either go with vortec supercharger or some turbo kit. what would you guys recomend? can the stock miata rear hold up or do i have to do somthing about that to? any imput is much appriecated and i will keep updating with pics as soon as i start.

Unless you already have the s2000 drivetrain, why not go LSx or 302? Much better aftermarket in terms of mounting kits, etc.

The F20 will deffinately move the miata pretty good. Get a turbo kit and a headgasket and its safe for 400+ at the wheels. As far as engine mounts and the rear end, you might want to ask on a miata site about that. I doubt many people here know a bunch about miatas...

LSx is a better strategy. Cheaper, faster, equal or better fuel mileage as well probably. More people have done it already as well.

After ~300whp, if you want to launch the car, the rear end will probably have to go, as a ~300-400whp S2000 will break the differential if you launch it repeatedly at the drag strip. It's probably wheel hop etc that makes it happen, so you might be able to do it in theory, but in practice, people start to break stock differentials somewhat consistently at that power level.

if you want info on costs-to-power-gains, use search to browse through the JDM Tuning (for NA) and Forced Induction sections of the site. your best bet is to set a power goal and go from there. if you want much over 300whp, you'll do best to use a supercharger or turbocharger to get you there, as your NA cost in additional-WHP-per-dollar goes through the roof around there, and your NA tuning gets rather difficult around that point (so reliability could become an issue if you don't have/aren't a great tuner).

like the others, i have to ask: do you prefer the idea of an F20/F22 because of the dynamic advantage over the heavier LSx swap, do you just like this particular engine, or what is your personal reason for wanting this swap?

Honda sourced the Mazda 7" rear for the S2000. The rear housing is different and the axles are larger so nothing is a direct interchange other than the ring and pinion gears. The Honda Torsen does have a clutch disk to preload the worm gear (the R type Torsen). If you adapt the larger S2000 halfshafts and stub shafts it is a nice upgrade.

As far as the rear end holding power, I could say my 330rwhp S2000 had over 50+ launches without ever having a problem......
