Fast Fit
Impressive. Especially when the Fit briefly pulls ahead of the NSX.

That NSX driver was sliding all over the place. Lost a lot of time.
And the Fit sounded terrible. "Fart can" FTW!!
Needs a tighter turning radius... the poor driver had to throw the steering wheel all over the place. Looked like he was driving a BUS.
Anyone know the specs on that car? I'd google, but I just don't care enough.

At the Chevy Rev It Up event in Houston this week, the pro driver in a normally aspirated Chevy Cobalt SS was practically as fast as other drivers in Corvettes.
It's all about the driver.

It's all about the driver.
There are companies that run these for a manufacturer. I forget which one did this one but it was very well done. Mazda did a "Zoom Zoom Live" event last year as well, and others have done it in the past.
However, Chevy was giving away a 2008 Corvette, so these are a GREAT idea. There was one competitor (finished in the top five) that flew in all the way from Florida to compete.
These events are HUGE - 150,000 timed laps in six locations - and they generate a ton of traffic for a manufacturer. While I'm not a big GM car fan, I did get a chance to see the new 2008 Malibu (very nice compared to the old one, though I think I'll still stick with an Accord), the new Camaro, a bunch of race cars, and actually drive their top end cars (Vettes). Great event overall, even if I didn't win the big enchilada.
I wish all the manufacturers would do these....
