It would be an interesting race between a ZR1 and a 420 rwhp single turbo, race prepped FD, esp on a tighter track. You might be surprised how close it would be. "Destroyed"? Not a chance in hell.
Why would I be surprised? You'd be surprised at how destroyed that FD is....especially when the apex seal blows in lap 2.

Also this thread has fail all over it.

2007,

That looks like a decent track car... for a road legal car. Plenty of cars "less than" a GT3 could easily beat it on a track.

If it was road legal, it isn't a track god. Well maybe to a fanboi...

A track day toy that can be had for about the same price as the RX-7 yet would have no trouble beating it on the track.
come one now.

he didn't imply that this rx7 was the best race car in the history of the world. I think it is implied that we should only compare similar production cars.

formula cars, kit cars, etc. need not apply.

As far as I am concerned, there is a LOT to be said for building a race car out of a production car. I can appreciate prototype and formula cars, but they don't get me blood pumping the way that a modified production car does.

So shouldn't we compare a race prepped corvette to keep it fair?
As long as the investment in each car is equal...good luck

He did say track god and the investment in each car would be about equal. If he had said street legal track toy perhaps I would agree. Perhaps some of this is reaction to the over zealous fanboi nature of the original posting.

lol. I see what you are saying, but when I go to the track as an observer, I can care less what people are doing with little kit cars and mini formula cars and the like. I really mostly care about road cars.

Don't get me wrong, as soon as I can afford to do so, I will out there racing in a shifter cart or some wannabe formula car because they are awesome.

But road cars turned track cars are just better in my opinion because there is so much diversity. Sure, the water gets muddy in the sense that there are varying degrees of tuning involved. I suppose what I am saying is that i look at it more from a builder's perspective. I am really into transforming something into a racecar rather than buying a racecar. that's all i'm saying.

Funny, when I go to the track I always wonder why the tin top drivers aren't in real cars

Actually, given the mess that is SCCA I can see the issues. Any more the wings and things aren't given good fields to run with. If FF was a strong class as it was in the 80s when you had an entire field of just FF things would be different. The cost differences aren't that big and something like FV really is quite affordable as far as SCCA racing goes. But it doesn't look cool.

ok, ok..."track god" and street legal (i.e. you could drive it to your local track and not get pulled over)
