You made an attempt at a correction and you failed. I kept it civil. You came back with a silly remark and got a sharper (but still fairly lighthearted) response. Now you're coming back for more. Why? If it doesn't matter, why keep bringing it up?

How is Jonboy the dickhead in this thing? You tried to make him look foolish by nitpicking his comments and it ended up that you were wrong. He kept the conversation civil and instead of sticking it to you he made it seem like a trivial joke. I think went out of his way to not be a dick.

[QUOTE=ZDan,Oct 8 2009, 06:16 AM] OK, genius why don't you tell me how much 3000 lb. of steel costs and weighs vs. 4000 lb. of the exact same steel?

Yeah, airplanes are constantly falling out of the sky and cars are constantly breaking in two because structures engineers don't know what they are doing!

All this talk of weight and the Taurus is so irrevelant. This is a car that was designed to appeal to the masses, not the small bitchy group of enthusiasts that gather on this site. Will an s2000 owner ever consider a Taurus? I say yes they would. If they need to carry four people in comfort across twelve hundred miles of countryside along with luggage and gifts for Grandma. That is what the MAJORITY of people need their cars to do. These are the people that Ford needs to cater to.

As far as the quality of the latest generation of Ford products I can and will attest to that firsthand. I work in the automotive industry as an account manager selling Motorcraft Parts directly to Ford dealers. I have in my "fleet" an 04 s2000, an 06 Mountaineer AWD v8 (family ride) and an 06 Fusion 2.3L 5 speed (work car). Here are my impressions of these Ford products.

Fusion - My second Ford ever purchased. From the begining I called it my 9/10's Accord. Decent power, great ride, excellent mpg (29 to 30), great handling, communicative steering. huge trunk and I think pretty nice looks. I always called it a 9/10's Accord because the only thing it lacks from an Accord is a small amount of refinement. The '10 Fusion will go head to head with the benchmarks in this class and can allow Ford to hold their head high. 60,000 miles on this car and its going strong. Havent even replaced the brakes yet.

Mountaineer - Purchased this one used during the gas crunch for an insanely low price. Was not my first choice, but couldnt pass up the clean car fax, low miles and ridiculous price. I cant tell you how much I love this big, heavy stupid, domestic suv. Everything I swore I hated. I put a Magnaflow exhuast on it, K&N intake and some tasteful chrome 20's. I can drive it on the beach or in crazy deep snow. I can haul my wife, 2 kids and older parents very comfortably on a long trip. I can tow a trailer up to 7500 lbs. The exhaust/intake give it a nice v8 rumble that is nice getting your foot into. The 4.6 l v8 has 300 hp/300 torque. This motor has proven itself over and over so many times in police cars and taxi cabs and delivery vans. Known to clock well over 300,000 miles with very few issues. I love it beacuse it is the opposite of the politically correct vehicle. It makes no excuses for what it is. Yup, its a big dumb, gas guzzling domestic suv that kicks ass. I'm glad there are Prius owners out there. They're saving more gas for me.

Awesome. Poost up your review. I am sure others will be interested in your impressions. I am assuming your getting a 2010? Should be able to call that one a 15/16th Accord!

Thread resurrection for Halloween!

I must admit that I was one of the bashers of the Taurus earlier in this thread. But, I was next to one on my drive home tonight and the exterior proportions looked much better than I remember from the floor model at the NY Auto Show earlier this year. It still looked ponderous and portly but muscular and handsome as well. The exterior was a light silver and the only thing that detracted from the looks was some pretty garish chrome wheels. Don't know if the wheels were OEM. It wasn't a SHO but it did appear to be some upscale trim level. There was a badge on the right side of the trunk lid but I couldn't make out the word in low light. Ford really did a decent job differentiating the car from the previous generation looks wise.

I still remember the plastic fantastic Ford interior from the auto show and I still have no desire for a 4,000+ lb sedan with front wheel drive. So, I'll reserve final judgement until I actually get my hands on one.
