That's too bad, I was excited about this car and now maybe not so much. Not surprising but unfortunate and if they do end up going the hybrid route it will really ruin what was my original perception about this car. This is one of the few 'lower end' cars that I have been excited about for sometime and I was holding off on buying a car in anticipation of this one. Now it looks like I'll be watching the used 370z market to keep my Z32 company.

lulz

I don't think the styling issue quoted in the article was the problem. It LOOKS like a neat car. The pricepoint for a weak engine might have been suspect with me.

I just hope it doesn't get bigger/higher.
Everybody's having to go to bulkier, higher, more bluff front ends for pedestrian impact standards. This car, with a flat four situated well aft, can get away with a much much lower front end. *IF* Toyota doesn't decide that looking different from everything else is a big risk, which given their conservative nature is a distinct possibility...

The problem is main-line Toyota got a hold of this car too soon. This is why the IS-F was designed in secret - so it wouldn't get ripped apart by corporate politics and accounting. Its like Toyota can't help but spite itself.

This idea dies more and more with each announcement that comes out.

In my mind at least, I'm putting this one on the "I'll believe it when I see it" scrap heap and maybe I'll be in for a pleasant surprise some day. Till then, it's DEFINITELY nothing to hold your breath waiting for.

Sounds like the mentality that GT5 buyers should have had.
