Default Fuel Pump Debacle

So this morning I was filling up my s2000 at the local 76 and I was just standing there, waiting for the pump to finish. When the pump 'trigger' popped indicating it a full tank, the whole pump literally popped out of my car, spilling gasoline EVERYWHERE. The quarter panel, some of the soft top, and all over the floor. I bet it was quite a sight seeing me freak the hell out, pick up the gas pump, have some more spill out of it as well as on myself, and finally just putting it back into the pump socket. So has this every happened to any of you guys before? This is a first for me, hopefully a last. It was certainly a wake up call at 6 in the morning haha.

(For the record, I pumped on the fast mode)

Did you report this incident to the cashier? Not sure if he cares, but do it just for the record.

Yikes. Had something similar happen to me once, the pump was broken and didn't click off at all. The tank just got full and then sprayed gas all over the place, all over me, and all over the ground. I didn't realize gasoline was so slippery, I almost fell on my ass in a puddle of gasoline.

I was always curious as to how strong these pump shoot out the gas. It's always inside so I don't know, does it shoot that high?

Sorry for the incident though, that really does suck.

sorry to hear that man. That's gotta suck.

I remember about 10 years ago I saw these 2 guys pumping gas into their really old, beatup VW Rabbit. One guy was watching the pump with an intensity I've only seen in movies and holding his arm up like he was ready to signal. The other guy was pumping rather cautiously staring at his friend's arm and then SPLOOSH! Fuel shot out of the tank and all over both of them. They then proceeded to yell at each other for a minute or so before finally cleaning themselves off.

To this day, I'm still not sure what the hell was going on because I always thought the pump sensed when to stop pumping. I always thought it was hilarious though.

It happened to me one day filling up my R6 and it got on my left eye, boy that shit burns... I thought I was gonna go blind.

My helmet still kind of smells like gas but since I like that smell I don't mind.
